How do you afford to repair them?
Couple of weeks ago some B***d snapped my wing mirror off, ford garage wanted £250 to repair it so it is currently held on with gaffer tape. Today I got a puncture £135 for new tyre (Kwik fit) but the mechanism to hold the spare under the car has also broken kwik fit don't do them and I dread to think how much the dealership will want ... anyone got any bright ideads?

Shop around the different dealerships. Our local one is not only completely cr*p wrt customer service and quality of service, but extortionately expensive. The one in the next town is unfailingly helpful and reliable and their prices are much more reasonable. I'd try calling the different ones to see how much difference there is in their prices.

Also check out if you have an AA repair centre near you. They may be able to sort out the stuff that Kwikfit can't.

Another idea is to check out Volkswagen and Seat dealers. The Sharan and Alhambra are basically the same car as the Galaxy and they may be able to help and be more reasonable price-wise.

Thanks i'll try that

I've used them loads of times for things from wing mirrors to spare wheels to bumpers.
You send your request to them. They e-mail it out round their network of scrap yards and dealers. You sit back and wait for the calls or e-mails to come in from the individual dealers. You don't have to accept any quotes they give you - you can choose the one you want.
I've never had any bother from them, and have usually had parts next day from all over UK.
Fab people, really.

I sold mine and replaced it with a Zafira...

Don't go to a Ford garage, go to a local garage.

I used a local garage and generally got new tyres for £42 (I shopped around).

Yes this happened to us too. I think the part was £100 and I went to a local garage to have it fitted. But if it happened again I'd go the scrapyard route. We replaced the climate control unit via a scrapyard (again through our local garage).

I never went to a Ford dealer for anything.

We too had the wing mirror snapped off and it cost about £90 from local garage. Also the mechanism to hold the spare tyre on ours also snapped off, aparently this is a common fault and should be reported to Ford. Have to admit we haven't done this and have been driving with the spare in the boot for months. Have also got cheaper tyres by shopping around.

The initiative taken for the concern is very serious and need an
attention of every one. This is the concern which exists in the
society and needs to be eliminated from the society as soon as
possible.
