A quick question about that 2in1 type bread

We all love wholemeal bread in this house EXCEPT for when we have toast. Brown bread toast just isn't as nice!! So, rather than have 2 loaves of bread on the go, I have been considering buying that 2in1 stuff (you know like Best of Both or Whole and White). BUT is is as good as wholemeal or is it just a big con to get you to buy expensive bread?

The stuff is great and is fabulous toasted. I just begrudge paying almost £1 a loaf!Shock
I have no idea about whethre it's a con or not.
According to the packet of Hovis BoB, it has reduced salt, boosted the wholegrain goodness through a special blend of flour and has no artifical preservatives or flavourings.

Hmmm, perhaps I'll give it a go then... It is ruddy expensive isn't it - 96p in my local Morrisons Shock

Yup, all this healthy eating malarky and they make it sooo bloddy expensive!! GRRRRRR.

Hovis's BOB bread is much nicer than Kingsmill IMO. Also the supermarkets regularly have it at 2 for £1.20 so look out for that.

I found that as well JanH. Kingsmill has a funny taste about it. Also not good toasted.

Me too. Love the BOB (but not the price) had both my dh and ds fooled.

We love the best of both invisible crust - but it is a lot more £££ than other breads! I buy it though coz it tastes so bloomin good!

Gingerbear · 01/05/2006 16:03

crusty white Danish from our bakers is best bread toasted.

ds mad me buy th invisible crust one and will now eat that and the hovis bob. as he is 14 and VERY fussy I am just pleased that he is eating something"slightly" healthy. Think the invisble crust one is yuck unless toasted with peanut butter on itBlush

I tried the white invisible crust one, but thought it had a weird texture -almost wet!! Yes, I prefer Hovis to Kingsmill, Hovis do not use preservatives in their bread apparantly.

We go for the hovis one too. After watching those healthy eating programmes on tv we decided to try and eat a bit healthier. So we changed the bread and I bought wholemeal pasta too.It almost goes white when cooked and has a nice taste. In fact I was so surprised that ds who is quite fussy prefers it to the white pasta. Not sure about trying brown rice but may give it a go on the kids soon.
