My brother invited a few friends round with sledge hammers, and demolished his in an afternoon, then followed it up with a party. You will need a very large skip though.

yeah, i dont suppose you can fold the iron neatly into bin bags for weekly bin men eh?Wink..do your brothers mates fancy flexing their pecs again!Wink

He lives in FranceGrin
Good fun if it doesn't rain, and great for relieving stress!

ooh, bring me the sledge hammer!
so we dont need to 'contact' anyone about knocking it down then?like a reverse planning permission?i know that sounds a bit daft!

You really need to make sure there isn't asbestos there first before you started swinging sledge hammers.

We knocked ours down, and it was massively hard work! There was some asbestos which we had professionally taken away, and the garage itself filled 6 skips of rubble, so you have to be prepared to shift that amount of rubbish! Has made a huge difference to the garden though.

Surveyor should be able to check for asbestos and advise you.

My local council gave me some very useful advice on asbestos garage roofs. Much better than the surveyor who made it out to be a very difficult issue. \link{http://www.bromley.gov.uk/environment/envhealth/asbestos/advice_cement_sheds_garages.htm\here} is their fact sheet
