I must add EMPHATICALLY that it's NOT my dh.

Went out with a few mums last night and one of them has a dh who does this.

I was Shock

morningpaper · 27/04/2006 19:39

agree

Twiglett · 27/04/2006 19:39

be horrified

foxinsocks · 27/04/2006 19:40

yes I would call the police and report him. It's not funny at all. Hope the mum was worried and not boasting about it.

RTKangaMummy · 27/04/2006 19:40

AngryAngry

report them

WigWamBam · 27/04/2006 19:41

I'd be disgusted and horrifed, would have no hesitation in reporting it to the police.

emkana · 27/04/2006 19:42

These were videos he had sent to him by colleagues, not ones he was involved in IYSWIM.
Could the police do anything about that?

She didn't like it, but she wasn't as shocked and disgusted as I would be.

OP posts:
Nbg · 27/04/2006 19:42

I'd be horrified.

Why people enjoy watching other people being assualted is beyond me.

Pennies · 27/04/2006 19:42

I'd be shocked. What was her take on it?

HunKeRMunKeR · 27/04/2006 19:43

I would be livid.

brimfull · 27/04/2006 19:43

Is this when someone is beaten up and it's videoed?

Shocking that anyone does this let alone an adult.Report this to the police!

Pixiefish · 27/04/2006 19:43

i'd report him to the police

RTKangaMummy · 27/04/2006 19:44

The police can identify the vitim and location etc etc from them iyswim

emkana · 27/04/2006 19:44

Please see my previous post for woman's reaction.

Is it an offence to just be in possession of such a video, when you took no part in the actual assault?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 27/04/2006 19:46

they can trace it back through the mobile records - may be able to find the original (although no doubt a long shot because if it's widely sent around, the police may know about it already)

Nbg · 27/04/2006 19:46

I don't think so. You don't know how many others have it Sad
It could have been sent to alot of people.

It will be easier for the police to find the source though if he reports it.

Pixiefish · 27/04/2006 19:47

I think it says a lot about the bloke whose phone its on. i wouldn't want to be with a man like that

CHICagoMUM · 27/04/2006 19:50

Exactly my sentiments Pixiefish, obviously you can't control what is sent to your phone, but to be amused by it (and not take any steps to help find the people who did the assualt) speaks tonnes about what kind of person he is. Disgusting.

MadamePlatypus · 27/04/2006 20:37

Absolutely report to the police. By having the video on the phone he is supporting the people who carried out the crime in the first place.

emkana · 27/04/2006 20:39

oh gawd...
this is turning into a moral dilemma for me now isn't it?

Worried that if I report to police she'll know it was me and I will be hated by her and other mums for getting her dh into trouble.

OP posts:
edam · 27/04/2006 20:40

I would contact the police because it is evidence. And could be useful in bringing the offenders to book. Apart from it being morally repugnant, and all that.

expatinscotland · 27/04/2006 20:41

I'd report him to the police. There's nothing 'happy' about assaulting someone. People have been murdered in 'happy slapping' incidents.

hub2dee · 27/04/2006 20:42

I expect there are loads of Web sites that have these videos to download, probably alongside ringtunes, screensavers, mobile phone themes etc. etc.

I'm with everyone else, the police can track it, I work with phones.....it would be classed as evidence and could help someone who was seriously hurt.....Can't belive his wife wasn't horrified!!!
