Does anybody know how much it is to have a new Fuse Box installed?

Our valuation survey has come back on the house we have bought.
They said that it has an old fuse box in and needs a new one and will cost £500.

We think thats quite alot even if you take in to consideration labour costs.
It wouldn't need any re-wiring doing to it as this was done recently due to an extension that was built.

Anyone have any idea?

If the new unit is going in exactly the same location, and it is accessible, and the wires aren't old.... yes, it sounds like that is way too much.

The box itself will cost £40 - 70ish depending on how many circuits etc. But it really shouldn't take someone an incredible amount of time to loosen ten or so cables, pull them back, remove the box, and screw them to the new one. If they've got to extend cables etc. because there's no slack in them or they're too short for the new box, that would add extra time.

Excellent, thanks H2D Smile

Dh did a bit of research on the net last night and figured that the box cost about what you have said and the switches were £6 each.
