Does anyone have any ideas for fun stalls for our primary school summer fete? Looking for some new and different ideas, in addition to the traditional lucky dip, hook a duck etc.

Our school always does a football tombola/raffle thing. I think you buy the whole caboodle from baker ross or similair. You buy a ticket, you win a football. Simple as that. Always v. popular, kids like to know they're going to "win". Usually the first thing to finish, 'cos it's all gone.

Every autumn my moter and I run a welsh cake and drop scon stall at the church fete and we sell out every year! we cook them fresh on a camp stove using a proper bake stone and the smell wafts around which is fantastic! It draws everyone in!! Think about alterntives i.e. ice cream freshly made? Candy FLoss maker? can pick most things up cheap from ebay or amazon if you want to buy new!

sweet stall - you know home made sweets like marshmallows, rocky road, turkish delight, toffee apples etc

thong ( as in flip flip) throwing comp

welly boot throwing

craft one - kids have a box/door hanger or something like that they can paint and decorate.

A really fun one, which children enjoy, is to get a toilet and some footballs from, say, Baker Ross and get them to pay to aim it into the toilet. If they get it in they win the football.

Don't know how much new toilets cost, however, but you could use it year after year.

The fete I went to last year had a 'bacon and egg' stand, basically lots of eggs half submerged in straw. You have to choose one.. if the one you pick has a cross (pen) on it you get a rasher of bacon which is then taken to the BBQ and slung in a roll..

Face painting is always popular

As are the games where you have to guess where the treasure is buried (pre-arranged!)
I'm sure there must be useful websites out there! :)

You will need:

a giant dice
6 pieces of paper - labelled 1 - 6
A large box of assorted prizes from small to large. Sweets, small toys, toiletries, pens etc.

Put a prize on top of each sheet of paper.
Person rolls the dice - whichever number they roll they win the prize on the matching sheet of paper.

DD had this at her recent rainbow easter fete and the stall was very popular.

We did a treasure map. Got a large board and covered it with A-Z map of London. The kids in dd's class made plasticine models of London landmarks, eg London Eye, Tower Bridge, St Pauls... People paid for a flag (sticky paper on cocktail stick), wrote name on and plonked it where they thought.

Another good one was pick a straw. We used about 500 in one hour! 20p a go to pick a straw which is in a tray of sand, poke out piece of rolled up paper (using small paintbrush), unroll and see what it says. Either win sweet, certain amount of money, have another go, or no win.It was really really popular.

These are all fantastic suggestions, thanks very much. Can't wait to suggest them all at the next meeting.

Thanks again Grin
