We ahve a business lone with Bt that we haven't used for months. I ahve jsut rung to cancel it and am told that we have a 5 year contract and as we are only 15 months into it then altho' they will cancel tha account we are still liable for 25% of the charges for the outstanding duration of the contract!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I can't remember entering into a 5 year contract!! our business was only a short term thing so we wouldn't have done it. iasked the gilr if we had signed something and she tells me NO, it was a verbal agreement!

can they do this?
what can we do?

anyone been in this situation? or does anyone have any inside knowledge??

things like this are why I HATE bt so much... just thinking about them makes me fume

i'd rather pay 3 times as much than EVER give them any money ever again

If it was a verbal agreement over the phone, ask for a copy of the call as proof. Ask for paperwork to prove that a 5 year contract was set up - surely they would have had to send you something to confirm it was in place
