I need to produce a baic family tree up to grandparents, I am struggling a little to do it on paper, then wandered if there are any free websites that can do it. My parents have a lot of siblings and its hard putting them all in.

TIA

Just wrote a big spiel about tracing family history, then re-read post- you didn't mean that did you?! Blush

If you are interested in tracing, my mum has just started tracing her family history on genes reunited. It is free, though you can "upgrade" a la friends reunited to send messages to people who have searched on your relatives. It's good, but you are relying on someone else having put their details on the site first. Will ask my mum what other sites she uses.
(couldn't let post go to waste!)

Found a link for free trial software for you.

Try this one. Could help you do what you want.

I can't think of anything free -- the generation of family trees is quite tricky, as you've found. What level of detail do you need to give?

All I need really is a template or something so I can put in the information that I already have, I tried doing it several times by hand but ran out of space and stuff

You could try the Personal Ancestry File (PAF) from familysearch.org - scroll down the page and its on the right.

Or you could try putting one together on genesreunited (you have to register, but not pay to do this) but I'm not sure how well it would print out - you might have to get the sellotape out...

None of the freebies are very good at showing lots and lots of siblings though on printouts.

you can put it into genesrunited then print out the all in one tree!

I was going to say genesreunited too. You may even find relatives you didn't know existed.

The easiest way I found to do mine (large family with 9 generations back to 1796 so far) was to buy an A3 sheet of graph paper from my local craft shop then I could do boxes and lines easily and it looks neat. I still haven't found an online layout that I am happy with!

Have you budding Geneologists seen that 1841 census is online now? Smile
