is it better to teach your children to swim yourself or to get them structured lessons? boy 6 girls 3 and 4.

I would say proper lessons to learn to swim and then fun swimming with you to increase their general confidence in the water.

We taught DS to swim when he was 6 Smile

We were abroad and he swam nearly every day for 3 months

he now has lessons to help with technique and to ensure he goes weekly

I'd say proper lessons unless you're a confident and skilled swimmer. Apart from anything else, DSs always used to ignore anything I tried to teach them!!

Agree with Cam about taking them lots yourself for fun in addition to lessons.
