My SIL is having a party for her 4 and 1 yr old DS's and has decided to make it fancy dress! I really have no skills or imagination at all to make one and dont want to pay a fortune for my 21 month old (who may or may not wear it on the day depending on his mood!!)

Any ideas? Does anyone have anything that their own children have grown out of and want to pass it on? (I will pay of course)

All ideas appreciated!

Ideas would be as follows:
Rabbit - dye a plain white sleepsuit brown and stitch a furry tail on the bum - you could always make some brown felt ears and stitch on a headband but I doubt he would wear them.
Peter Pan - green tights and a green T-Shirt
Fireman Sam - I made this for ds when he was around the same age - made some simple yellow trousers and put a cheap long sleeved top with it onto which I stiched some silver buttons and epaulettes - bought a yellow plastic helmet.

When my DS was this age they had a similar fancy dress at nursery and I didn't want to get too carried away. I dressed him in checked shirt and denim dungarees that he already posessed. Then I bought him Bob the Builder yellow hat and tools - a couple of which I attached to the waistband of his dungarees.

I cut up a pair of dp's old blue trousers to make a cape and put ds in a red sleepsuit and he looked like an action hero! Did the same with a green sleepsuit and black cape for haloween - he looked like a vampire. He's now in pj's so I don't know what I'll do!!!

How about a pirate? If you already have a stripy t-shirt and dark trousers it would be pretty easy. You could easily get a cheap pirate's hat, or use a spotted scarf tied round his head. You could even draw on a moustache if he'd let you!

dress him in his normal clothes, stick a stamp on him and send him as a first class male!!
