I have a picture which appears behind the text (in this case a table) How on earth do I click on it to slect it? As it's behind the table, if I click on the picture, I just select the table. I need to move it but can't get hold of it!!

TIA

Has it been put in as a header Soupy?

Go to VIEW -> HEADER AND FOOTER and see if you can get it that way. If not post again.

No, it's not a header. It's simply underneath the table (ie "behind the text". I have the same probem if I put a picture behind the text. When I put this picture there, I made sure it overlapped the edge of the table slightly so that I could always get hold of it. Unfortunately, I un grouped the item and have now lost contact with the middle bit.

The only way I can think of is to move the table but there must be a straightforward way, surely! I have never been taught how to use Word, I've had to convert my Amipro knowledge. I thought I'd just about got there but this has me stumped

could you select the table and cut it, then do what you want with the picture then paste the table back in over the pic?

SoupDragon · 15/01/2004 08:24

Good idea but i've just tried it and this just deletes the pictures as well.

Following this idea though, I have just got round it though by dragging the contents of the troublesome cell over to the last column where the borders of the picture slightly overhang the edge. I can't believe there's not a clever way of selecting something like this though.

Thanks, maybe someone knows the correct answer!

In case you were wondering, I was putting a logo on some address labels.

I've been playing with it now and the best I could do was to temporarily convert the table to text, drag the image away and convert it back to a table again. Very convuluted! Thank you Bill Gates!

If you have the drawing toolbar up, (sits at bottom of page) go to Draw, Order and play with the send to back, bring to front options. If you have the table clicked you may be able to send it to the back so the picture is in the front.

Well done Udar. If you use the Drawing toolbar Soupy, you can click and drag the image with the 'select objects' arrow.

I knew it was easy!!! Thank you so much

This is what happens when you worked for a company who used Lotus software and then have to learn Microsoft stuff by yourself.
