Fecking passports................nightmare from hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fist off I gave them to hv to countersign (4 passport forms)6 weeks ago, she had already signed them when she realised she needed to put down her passport number, but she had sent hers off the week before for renewal.
I finally get them back last week, thats when I realise ds birth certificate was only the short version, and not the long, so as we are going in 4 weeks I had to pay £60Shock for an emergency birth certificate.
While waiting for that to arrive, I go to fetch dts birth certificates from where I know they were...................and they were'nt fecking there, we had the whole house, including the attic upside down, but could'nt find them, so I had to pay another £120 for emergency ones.
So, I finally think I am sorted to get them sent off, when I find my passport photo id missing (the signed one} again searched high and low, and found it slipped down the back of a cupboard.
Just about to head off up the post office, when I suddenly remember I needed to put my out of date passport in, and guess what?....................................could'nt find the fecking thing anywhere, to cut a long story short, we found it, but by then the post office was closed, so I now have to wait til tomorrow to send them, and I just know they will be rejected, and we go in less then 4 weeks.

Dont feel you have to reply, just having a rant.

have the post office check them first, they usually go through fine if the post office has approved them.

waterfalls · 21/04/2006 19:15

Yeah, thats what I'm gonna do, just hope the photos are ok, because health visitor is on holiday now for a fortnight.

Have just worked out, I will have paid almost £400 for 4 passportsShock

My heart goes out to you! We have played similar passport 'games'. Thankfully at least most of ours expire at the same time now so we should only have to experiennce the hastle twice every five years. To make it even more entertaining, DS2's name is spelled incorrectly on his Canadian citizenship card so I suspect that it will be a nightmare every 5 years.

We move in 7 weeks and I still haven't filled in the forms for either of DD2's passport applications.

I hope tomorrow goes smoothly for you.

waterfalls · 21/04/2006 19:24

Thanks, hope so, if they are rejected, we wont be able to go on holiday.

Its not just a holiday either, we are going to Lanzarote to see my mum and stepdad, not seen them for 2 years, so they have not seen dts since they were 6 months old, and ds since he was 3.

4 weeks is AGES! Don't fret. If there is a delay, ring up and demand to speak to the highest-ranked person possible. We got dh's delivered by courier two days before departure!

waterfalls · 21/04/2006 19:29

I know, but if they are rejected, it will be too late to start the whole process again, I feel a nervous wreck with the luck we have had so far, I wont relax til I have those passports in my hand.

beckybrastraps · 21/04/2006 19:31

It's the photos isn't it? They've got SO strict about them. Ds's would certainly be rejected now. Good luck!

waterfalls · 21/04/2006 19:31

Plus I had to dip into our spending money to pay for the birth certificates.

OP posts:
waterfalls · 21/04/2006 19:33

Yes it is the photos I am worried about, quite confident the forms are ok, I will report back tomorrow (fingers crossed)

I want to rant about it too - have had 4 sets of photos done for ds3 now (19 months) - all done at places who say their systems are set up for it so they should be right (Max Spielman, Jessops etc) and all of them have been rejected. First attempt was in February - have to keep having them bloody signed and we are going in 5 weeks - still not got a satisfactory set of photos. F*cking getting right on my tits I can tell you.

waterfalls · 21/04/2006 19:34

Well thats filled me with confidenceGrin

good luck

Dh says he's taking him to Max Spielman tomorrow and he's going to to and fro between there and the PO till they are right and he is only going to pay MS once. HE is mighty pissed off with them. What a bag of crap - young, stupid girls who have NO clue what they are doing. Bollox.

I'm annoyed if you couldn't guess.

Hope yours are OK wf!

I thought they were a bit more lenient with the rules for children under 5.

DD's were taken in a passport booth with me holding her up. Despite the fact she looks like she has a handlebar moustache, they were accepted.

It only took about a week for her passport to come back as well.

Hope yours are OK waterfalls and GDG.

Just been to PO with dd's for renewal and the photos were rejected as she was too low - well put bloody markers on the photo booth! Then they need countersigning because her old one has her as a baby. I checked the website before I went to the PO and it said childrens renewals didn't need countersigning. Then it's £34 for 5 years which is a rip off. I now have to find my mum's neighbours daughter to contersign as she's a civil servant and won't charge me. I really wanted to smash the PO woman's face into the glass as she explained to me in a "you are thick" voice that dd had changed - I fooking hope she'd have grown in 5 yrs Angry I wanted to scream.

waterfalls · 22/04/2006 15:27

Well I have sent them, though the post office have said that ds photos might be rejected because of a slight shadow (I could'nt see a shadow) but I have taken the risk and sent them, as my health visitor would need to sign a new photo and she is on Holiday til next week, and I will get new photos ready, in case they are rejected....................everyone cross their fingers and legs for meGrin

OP posts:
GDG · 22/04/2006 17:11

Dh did ds3s photos this morning, PO approved them so here's hoping! Going in 5 weeks!!

2Happy · 22/04/2006 17:53

Oh dear. We missed our holiday earlier in the year because we didn't get ds's passport through in time Sad. On the plus side though, the people working in the passport office were just the most helpful people I have ever come across and went totally out of their way to try and help, so if you do need to contact them, do it early. They are really great. Good luck!

fairyjay · 22/04/2006 18:10

My passport came thru' in less than 2 wks after the application had been sent from the PO.

Fingers crossed for you, but you can chase up progress if you're concerned.

EvesMama · 24/04/2006 12:13

dont know if this has been said but you can do a check and send service in some post offices which is £7 per passport and they ensure everything is corect before it go's.
also i got dd's passport from reg office and only paid £7?!..went in paid money, waited ten mins and they came out witrh it..end of!..someones taking you for a ride!
we also spent a fortune getting our but it seems your costs have been excessive!

waterfalls · 24/04/2006 12:55

All I need now is a postal strike, just my luck.

OP posts:
EvesMama · 24/04/2006 13:06
