My emails won't work. I can received them.. see them.. and even read them (although cannot actually open them... I have to scroll them up and down.) I can't reply to anything nor can I create new mail.

Both DH and I have tried everything we can think of. We can't get proper tech support from BTopenworld (our internet provider) because it takes you through to Microsoft and we don't have a proper regsitered version of the system we are using.

When you try to reply/send it says..

"There was an error opening this message. An error as occured"
(No kidding!!)

The problem appears to be that the address book is missing (Shock!) as, when you click on the address book it says "Unable to open the address book. The address book may not be installed properly"

(Eeeek! My long and lengthy much-used email address book!!! Shock Shock)!

It sounds like something 'viral' to me.. that has 'eaten' my address book.. but I have AVG AND Kaspersky.. and anyway, a missing address book should not stop me creating new mail should it?

Can anyone advise us please?? I have a couple of important emails I need to reply to... plus about 50 unimportant ones! Grin...

SJ x

Outlook is only really like a filing cabinet for your mails. If you need to open mails or send some important ones, go direct to your email suppliers page and do it from there.

Have a read through \link{http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813514\this}, see if there is anything useful.

Thanks StG, will plough through all the info on the link. Some of it I have already found for myself but I keep getting lost in it all!!

I am just not techie enough really.. need idiot-proof instructions...

pepperpots · 19/04/2006 21:25

But do you still have the software? The disks in which you downloaded it to start with? if you do you can start again

Aimsmum · 19/04/2006 21:25

Ah right i see, so you wouldn't be able to go through the BT website and open your emails that way then?

Sorry Smile
