Cleaning wool rug

I ahve one of those wool rugs that looks like lots of worms like \link{http://www.rugmerchant.co.uk/shagpiles/shagpile-rugs.php\this} and it needs cleaning. But I haven't a clue how. Do I send it to the cleaners or can I do it myself?

For that price I'd expect it to clean it's blummin' self

Seriously, personally I'd send it to the cleaners - at least if they ruin it they'll have to replace it
