He says she is a character in The Importance of Being Earnest. I say she is from a much earlier play by someone else (but can't remember what or by whom).

I know I could google but then I won't have the satisfaction of being able to point his mistake out on MN as he is so convinced he is right[evil grin]

No, it's not Earnest. I cannot remember the exact play, but he's wrong.
