We have a new plasma HD.
Dh wants to sign up for new Sky HD, and says he has to book it now, to ensure getting it installed for the World Cup.

Requires a new HD box,
an extra £10 per month.
Dh says £300 in total.

He has been saving, so I don't have any objections ... as such,
but is is alot , isn't it ?

It better be good !!!!!

Why do you have to sign up to sky HD?? Dh hasn't mentioned this - he just said the World Cup is going to be in HD and our TV is HD ready...are we meant to do something else??!

Only on 7 Sue ?
I thought it was on all channels and everything.
Oh dear !

GDG - yes, you have to contact sky, get yourself booked in, a new box, superior to a Sky + box, is required.
It seems there are a number of stages.
And even then, there is no guarantee that you will get it in time for the football.
Just not sure about it all.

It is, but mostly for the super geeks!

Mmm yes, DH has signed up (a couple of weeks ago) and got the call today that they'll be installing the week before the world cup. He knows I'm a bit miffed about the cost (new tv, install and higher monthly cost) but knows he can get around me by saying it's for the football!

The thing that annoys me is that it will cost extra per month now and then a year down the line, they'll probably reduce the cost. Happened with SkyDigital, then Sky+ and I'm sure it will with this. It seems that customers who use the new technology as soon as it is available are penalised! Ho hum, he doesn't spend on much else, so I won't grumble (plus I'm hoping the football will look fab - less pixelated)

We arent into the World Cup in this house but have a tv that can show HDTV. But we wont be signing up immediatley, we have always been stung by Sky by signing up to something straight away, paying a premium and then 6 months down the line it gets a lot cheaper. And apart from the World Cup, there isnt a lot of other stuff that will be broadcast in HSTV.
