Our dd (6) is complaining of a very painful knee/leg today. She has been on holiday with grandparents in Spain all of last week and they said she had a few knocks and scrapes including one fall onto some steps which resulted in a lare bruise on the shin. They showed me the bruise when we collected the chidren and explained every cut and bruise down to the minutest injury so I have no concerns from a neglect pov. My worry is that the sore leg is the same one as the bruised shin.
I don't know whether to take a trip down to A&E for an X ray.
She is on and off okay with paracetamol and nurofen but sometimes is crying with pain even under medication. She isn't hysterical, she isn't in agony (I don't think) and she can weight bear at times on that leg but on rising she cannot stand easily.
She could be looking for attention as she is very sad to be leaving her beloved granny.
I really am finding it tough to make a judgement call on this one - waht do you mums think?
I guess despite my reluctance to turn into over anxious mother, I'd rather err on the side of caution.
