Oh gawd, can't really believe I am posting this.

I had to rehome my dog who I have had for 3 years and whom I adore, I'm not a soppy talk to your dog like a baby kind of pet owner and could never understand when people cry over losing their rat/cat/etc but....

My house is just so souless without him. I miss shouting at him, play-fighting and genrally laughing at ds and him larking around.

I know it's for the best and his quaity of life will improve. He's only been gone two days and my heart is broken, I'm feeling so jealous of the lady who has him now.

Sad....

Dizzymama · 10/04/2006 21:33

Oh MLV, I truly sympathise. A dog does make the home. You're not daft, he's been a big part of your life for three years and you need to cry, I know I did when a similar thing happened to me. Hope you're soon feeling happier.

Racers · 10/04/2006 21:35

Aw, that's so sad. I'd be the same if I had to give away my cat (it's been mentioned as she aggravates my allergies and asthma)

Sad

MLV, very sad for you Sad

You said his quality of life will be better so try to concentrate on that? You've had to make an awful decision and you've been really unselfish. Hope feel better about it all soon

ShaysMummy · 10/04/2006 21:38

i hope no one would take the piss. only people who have never had an animal would i think.

when dh and i got back from holiday before ds1 arrived and i became a baby machine, my 'ladies' (2 labs) were still at my mums who had looked after them.

we opened the door and they weren't there, wagging their tails waiting to greet us. that was a sad feeling and i was upset about that. u must be heartbroken u have had to rehome him.

but as you say, it will be better for him, whatever the reason.
it will take you a bit longer i think to feel a bit happier about it.

chin up!
:)

Aw thanks for those messages. I just want to start feeling ok about it and not snivelling. Dh has been really sweet, bless him, he keeps telling me it's not too late to change my mind (which I'm not going to do)

Oh meg, you're allowed to cry hun, no one will laugh at you, we're not interested in judging why you're upset, we just want to make you feel better!

(Most of us anyway some of us just take the p*ss)

((Sends hugs))

Well Fasta - your new user name was a good start at least!

Oh, that.

Easter and that. :)

FastasleepInABunnySuit · 10/04/2006 21:43

TBH if you're upset, you're upset, I don't care if you've spilled your fave nail varnish, you're upset and you deserve someone to be nice to you.

It's my new outlook.

(Just in case that sounded like I was saying you're being silly, I'd be crying too, I cried for weeks on and off after leaving my dog at my parents house to move in with hubby)

twokids · 10/04/2006 22:07

i Do so feel for you we had to rehouse out dog(lovely little staffie) when dd was litle as she couldn't handle any animals. sad thing is she would be fine now. It does get easier.:(
