I have just opened my front door to accept a delivery to see the new conifers I planted earlier this week have all been pulled up (in braod daylight out of my front garden. Going upstairs and looking out my dd's window into next doors garden they have 6 new conifers ... I have phoned the police and they are on their way over.

Glad you got your trees back. Not convinced that you should've cancelled the police, but ho hum.

I think you should report it to the council. I don't think that the council would do much but it would go on record and I'm sure the council would let them know that it is not on.

Such a brazen cheek! Agree re: the ribbon. Well done for the photos. Upload them, print them and file them with a written record of today's goings on. That way should anything happen again and they need to be reported it can't be classed as a one off!

Grrrrrr Angry

JoolsToo · 08/04/2006 19:02

Agree Marsy report and record

CHICagoMUM · 08/04/2006 20:22

I did explain the whole situation to the police and asked them what we should do. Thyey agreed it may make relations rather sour if they (the police) turn up. But have assured me it is on record.

Bloody hell, CM! Glad you have the trees back and hope they don't die.

WTF is she on about blaming the children though and whacking them too?! Angry

moondog · 08/04/2006 21:17

What a surreal turn of events!!! Shock

JanH · 08/04/2006 21:23

Just read this whole thread with my mouth hanging open (not a pretty sight).

Glad you've got the trees back, CM, but is it any wonder so many people are wary of having Eastern European refugees/asylum seekers in the neighbourhood? She was sharp enough to know when she was nailed, wasn't she?

I'm not sure them thinking they've got away with blaming the whole thing on their kids is a good idea - if the police don't have a word then whoever their house is rented from should be told what they've done (IMHO, obv Grin)

koolkat · 08/04/2006 22:10

Sorry JanH -
I know you don't mean ALL E Europeans and or asylum seekers are potential thieves, but I thought I would put in a good word any way Smile

One of the most amazing women I have ever known (my ex-cleaner) was an asylum seeker from Kosovo. She was a qualified teacher and spoke absolutely fabulous English. She was a Muslim and had left her 89 year old mother behind in a war zone, simply because she was too old to leave Kosovo. Many relatives had been butchered.

Thieves and rude people come in all shapes and sizes from all nationalities and religions.

Rhubarb · 08/04/2006 22:14

Whoa! That is sooo surreal! Obviously NOT the kids! I would also call SS for what it is worth and report the fact that you saw her hitting them around the head - seriously! Looks like the get the blame for everything. SS need to be aware of this family at least.

Spacecadet · 08/04/2006 22:19

ive sat here reading this thread, flabbergasted, im glad you got your trees back but i would report these people to the council/housing association. the woman sounds vile.

JanH · 08/04/2006 22:49

Thank you for realising I didn't mean that, kk Smile

SparklyGothKat · 08/04/2006 22:53

We have a family of asylum seekers living up the road, he works in Tescos and she is a SAHM. I went through his till the other day and reconised him and asked if he lived near me. Ds said 'XXXXXX'(street name) and he said yes. But he didn't reconised me, they keep themselves to themselves, we rarely see them, a nice quiet couple. Not all asylum seekers are thiefs but its things like CHICagoMUM has just encounted that make people wary.

Chandra · 09/04/2006 00:49

For what is worth, I think the kids could well have done it. We had a "memorial" tree planted in one of the green areas of the little village I used to live in, it had to be replaced three times because the neighbours' kids kept breaking it, or pulling it out, after three times the comitee decided to forget about the idea. Although I don't condone smacking I wonder oif those kids even received a good talking from their parents... and...BTW they were not refuge/asylum seekers just average English children organically grown in the countryside Wink

i have joined this mumsnet website today and looking around at all the conversations. They are all just normal conversations and then THIS came up!!

I had to call my DH in to read it out to him and cannot believe what I am reading! I have to say I laughed most of the way through it and not because it is funny but it is hilariously cheeky (if that makes sense(

I think I would have dug them up and them stood guard around them all night. Let them try and get them back off me!!

no seriously

what can you really do in that situation. You hear so often about retaliations! Perhaps the local newspaper would have found it a good story ofr next weeks issue??

glad you sorted it tho
