Paypal question

I have been on paypal for ages with a credit card but when I went to pay for something yesterday it said I didn't have enough credit.

I emailed to ask why and have just had a reply; it said when you first register you get £500 credit and when that's all gone you have to validate with a bank account.

Ages ago I did register a bank account but a) I was still unvalidated (???) and b) I was worried, following a dodgy incident, that some rogue could access my current account and empty it, so I removed details.

I still don't want to give them my current account details so am I stuffed? How come they can limit the amount you can use a credit card for?

hmmm, i had the same thing happen this week jan. i did give my bank details. oh god. am panicking a bit now in case it's a scam. not much help for you though, hope someone else has more of a clue.

Oh, it's not a scam, hoxty, don't panic - I cheerfully registered my details at the time but something happened following that (forget what) so I had to change my password etc and it made me a bit wary.
