Large babies & tall children

i've never had an enormous baby, although my last is taller than the others and he grows out of clothes and shoes faster than they did.

what i would say is don't set too much store by the percentiles on growth charts. my first daughter was nearly off the bottom (under the 10th line) and my second daughter was near the top (over the 75th line) - they are now 19 and 16 and THE SAME HEIGHT!!!!! - about 5'7".

my mother was 6' (and so am i, and my brothers are 6'6") and my mil is 5'. also my father's mother was under 5'. so we have a mixed bag of genes but you just can't tell what will predominate...

i have just happened upon this page while searching net. And it has been so great to see the advice posted and experiences. my son was big at 10lbs 1oz when born and now at 22 months he is in 4 year old clothes. Many similar experiences to some of you in shops, playgrounds etc. with other parents disaprovingly looking on. Think i will get him a jumper with ' im only two' written on it as suggested by someone! Terrible to have to but great idea!

hey ges, man this thread is old, my 1 yr old in this thread is now 4 years old and at nursery. she towers over the rest of her group and is wearing clothes for 6-7year olds pmsl. one of the teachers at dd1 (now 6years old) asked dd1 if dd2 was in reception or year 1 lol. they couldnt believe it when dd1 said she was at nursery. pmsl.

she has grown steadily over the last 4years, not really slowed down much. i get asked all the time if dd1+2 are twins. 2.5years between them.

we also have another little one, who is 18months old, and she is small like dd1. her current shoe size is smaller than dd2's at 10months old. dd3 is still in some 9-12month stuff, just going into 12-18months.

dd2 has learnt to say her name and age (she has a speech delay) so she announces that she is lauren jade and is 4years old. that stops people in their stares often.

lol misdee! i have all this with ds1(he of the scabby arms!) he is 6 and about 134cm tall.he wears age 9-10 clothes and his current shoes are are a 3 and a half! it's a bit of a nightmare sometimes and people expect more of him and shoe buying is so difficult, but it will be nice for him when he[[''s grown up.
