Well Becky is 23 weeks and HATES her bumbo - giving another few weeks and it will probably be for sale on here - im devastated!

Tiptoppop · 02/04/2006 20:33

We had a bumbo.

I would place it alongside the Sinclair C5 and the chocolate teapot for effectiveness.

i have never heard of the bebepod one but i found the bumbo better for my older one, its become his telly chair loL!

CHICagoMUM · 02/04/2006 20:35

Just "googled" the bebepod and tbh it looks v. similar to the bumbo. I'm afraid I am with the masses on this one ds hollered when he was in it and surprisingly coulld launch himself out of it at a very early age his sister however (3 years senior) loved it.

Greensleeves · 02/04/2006 20:36

I found ds1 and ds2 refused point blank to sit in the bumbo, apart from in the bath!! Using suction to stick it to the bottom, it enabled them to sit up and play in the water long before they were old enough to sit in the bath unaided! Outside the bath, though, they hated it.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 02/04/2006 20:37

agree with the launching out - becky bends backwards and her bum is out of it - so much for them not being able to get out of it - it has been sat in the corner for about 6 weeks now and she jsut cries when in it.

ITS A PAIN! Go for a bouncy chair or the floor - happy baby!

ItalianJob · 02/04/2006 20:38

DS didn't like his at all. I was lucky if he would sit in it for a 10 minute stretch. I wouldn't bother. And definitely shove him in it in the shop to try it out before you buy - some babies that were a bit on the chunky side didn't fit in it properly!!!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 02/04/2006 20:40

Also agree about chunky babies - Becky is massive and just doesnt look comfortable.

The more I type, the more determined I am to sell it......

my ds is 14months and LOVES his bumbo!! He is quite small for his age and so still fits but I have heard of chubby legged babies getting stuck!
He sits on the side next to me whilst i wash up and he just plays or we chat (he is not much of a mover) - babies seem to either love them or hate them so can you borrow one from a friend for a week or so to see if your little one likes it???

Monkeybar · 02/04/2006 22:08

My ds is another Bumbo fan. He looked a bit scrunched in the early weeks when his neck wasn't as strong, but it's been really useful. Took it to a wedding before Christmas and plonked it on the table at the reception so he could join in, look around and have his lunch without us needing a highchair. Probably a good idea to try before you buy if poss. We still use it a bit at 8 months, but he can sit well without it now. He did go through a back arching stage, though, and once toppled over sideways, luckily it was on the floor at the time!

izzybiz · 03/04/2006 09:27

My Dd liked her bumbo too.
Shes 22 months now and she still sits in it while i brush, and tie her hair up.
Shes quite small! It was a godsend as she couldnt sit up till 8 months and used to like sitting in it with a cookie!

jmum6 · 03/04/2006 09:31

ds loves his bumbo and we still use it. He's much better in it now he's older (7months) but he did do the back arching thing when he was about 4 months - scared me to death little bugger :o

Don't know I'd buy it again but will use it with the next one since we have already got one.
