candle wax on fleece

Help - I have got candle wax on my fleece jacket. I can't do the greaseproof paper and the iron thing as that will melt the fleece as well as the wax!
Any ideas will be gratefully received. Smile

WHy will it melt the fleece? Try it on a low heat with a tea towel then wash the tea towel on a high heat in the washing machine possibly?

Freckle · 02/04/2006 20:18

Freeze it and peel it off?

gingernut · 02/04/2006 20:20

Agree with chicagomum. I have ironed name labels on to fleece with iron on low and not melted the fleece.

You can normally iron fleecy material from the 'wrong' side, with a cloth between fabric and iron.

So put down the greaseproof, then the waxy area face down, then cloth, then iron IYSWIM.

OK - thanks - will give that a tentative go.
I did melt DS1's fleece recently but maybe I had the heat up too high.

I thought it was kitchen roll, not greaseproof paper. Don't you want something to absorb the wax??

SaintGeorge · 02/04/2006 21:20

Of course Soupy - was just checking to see if people were on the ball this evening Wink

Kitchen roll or good old brown paper.

duh.... possibly why I always have problems with it.
Have followed your advice re the tea towel and it seems to have worked so thanks Smile
