Just saw a listing, "we will not leave feedback unless you do"

So if I paid on time, in full, they would not leave me feedback until I did the same

Downright cheeky

I always leave a note when I have paid saying that I will leave feedback once goods have been received, please leave feedback for me

My big pet peeve on Ebay is that you can leave feedback but sellers dont do the same.

Then again, when I'm buying quite a bit from Ebay at any one time, it gets a bit boring leaving feedback!!

FrannyandZooey · 02/04/2006 14:22

Loads of sellers do this. Not many announce it though.

I can see their point - as a seller, feedback is important and could affect your livelihood. As a buyer, it does not meana great deal.

Still crap, though, and fairly cowardly too.

Elf1981 · 02/04/2006 14:23

sometimes a buyer needs feedback, I have often seen comments along the line of "if you have less than 10 feedbacks, please contact me before bidding for me to say it's okay"

Nbg · 02/04/2006 14:23

I don't think I have bought 1 item off ebay where the seller has left me feedback straight away.
Always after I have left it for them.

I always leave feedaback as soon as the buyer has paid.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 02/04/2006 14:25

I say the same thing on my listings.
I will only leave feedback once I know the item has been recieved (if Im selling). I have left so many buyers feedback and had none in return!

If Im buying, I always leave feedback to say that Ive recieved the item. But again, dont always get any back!

I sometimes email ebayers after buying/selling and say 'wot no feedback?' Grin

FrannyandZooey · 02/04/2006 14:28

Feedback is not that big a deal. Why would you bother emailing someone just because they haven't left feedback? Why do you need their feedback anyway?

welshboris · 02/04/2006 14:30

I had one this week from a seller asking for me to leave feedback, even though they had yet to do the same for me.

As a seller I used to leave feedback as sson as I posted parcel off until one day some woman left me negative feedback for no good reason! So now I wait for the buyer to leave their feedback first.

SoupDragon · 02/04/2006 15:30

when selling, I tell buyers to let me know the item has been received and that they are happy with it. Only when they've done this or left me feedback will I do the same. IMO the transaction is complete when I know they are happy with the item etc.

Piggiesmum · 02/04/2006 15:54

Since the seller recieves payment before the buyer recieves the goods then shouldn't the seller therefore leave feedback before the buyer.

Or is that just to naive and simplistic.

I just started selling on e-bay 2 mo. ago. I left about my 1st 10 buyers feedback straight away, as I am selling things brand new and have in all but one case (snowed in) mailed out items the day of or the day after payment has been made, and am not really afraid of negative feedback. I realized I wasn't getting any feedback from the buyers at all, so I stopped doing it. I've sold about 55 things, and am waiting for feedback for 23 of those items, and some of those people want me to e-mail them whenever I get in more stock, so I know they don't think ill of me. I have just started selling, so I would appreciate positive feedback. So there's a perspective from a seller's point of view. BTW, I've recieved 1 feedback out of the 1st 10 that I left for buyers first.

Skribble · 02/04/2006 19:53

So far I have sold 41 items and got 36 feedbacks. I am doing it as a business so I want to keep a good feedback score, I have bent over backwards in a few cases which has resulted in very happy customers.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 04/04/2006 19:17

Agree with colinandcaitlinsmummy.

Frannyandzooey - I am guessing you dont sell on ebay?

Feedback is a very important part of ebay. Why should I increase someone elses score, if they cant be bothered to leave feedback for me?

expatinscotland · 04/04/2006 19:28

i'm one of those sellers who was foolish enough to leave feedback for a buyer before she left it for me.

i paid the price.

the buyer then went and said the goods i sent her weren't as described (NOT true) and demanded a refund. i don't have to offer that, and didn't.

so she not only left me negative feedback, but also rescinded the payment thru paypal.

she still has the item, which sold on buy it now for £10. she also has £7.32 out of my paypal account.

a £10 bag i sold for much needed funds cost me an extra pound of postage to send to her AND £7.32. i've been ripped off of nearly £20 at a time when i needed it most.

i've had to send written complaints to the FSA, to PayPal (about itself) and to square trade.

all over a £10 bag.

not only would i NEVER leave feedback for a buyer until they left it for me first, but i won't ever use ebay or paypal again. ever. they and paypal - which they own - treat sellers like shit and make it too easy for sellers to be robbed like i have been.

milward · 04/04/2006 19:31

Many sellers do this & it's fine with me as once I'm happy with the item the transaction is complete iyswim.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 04/04/2006 20:11

Sorry to hear about your bad experience expat.

expatinscotland · 04/04/2006 20:14

there's a first time and a LAST time for everything. and that's it right there.
