I would imagine thorntons or boots would do one?

expatinscotland · 02/04/2006 10:01

thornton's does them! that's where we get them for the ILs, who are both insulin-dependent diabetics.

red37 · 02/04/2006 10:07

Thanks I will try themSmile

um, maybe not such a good idea? They \link{http://www.diabetes.org.uk/infocentre/inform/easter.htm\aren't actually that great}.

How about a small, really good-quality Easter egg instead?

red37 · 02/04/2006 10:24

I would only get him a small one as I believe diabetic chocolate is like laxatives.

yes, it is. I don't get why people buy them, as they can have an adverse effect on blood sugar levels too.

Diabetics can eat chocolate, just not very much of it - it's nowhere near as bad for their blood sugar levels as sugary sweets can be.

I agreee with most of the posts on here red37.

My ds is diabetic so I was asking about this but everyone tells me that diabetic food is horrible and not worth the money.

Diabetes UK say the same. He'd be better off with a real easter egg that he can eat slowly after meals.

red37 · 02/04/2006 18:39

Would that not bring his sugar levels up

yes, a bit, but not too much if he only eats a bit at a time, preferably with meals.

Tbh, he'd be better off without any kind of Easter egg, but it is only once a year.

FIL is diabetic and likes the Thortons diabetic stuff, as with any other chocs or sweet stuff he eats it in moderation.
