Can you not to a civial ceramony somewhere but make it low key. So as close to the registry office for you, but not for dp?

edam · 01/04/2006 13:22

Does he actually want a church wedding - or would he be happy with a civil ceremony as long as it wasn't in a registry office? Hotels and venues of all descriptions do nice weddings now.

Do tell dp how you feel about this; you've got solid experience to back it up, it's not just pre-wedding nerves.

oh thats right as you can can married anywhere (if thats poss?)..i wouldnt mind getting married in a castle (but a very small castle -he he!!)

I had a small (ish) civil wedding in a beautiful hotel. Really nice and didn't feel nervous at all, though I did expect to.

You can get married anywhere that holds a licence. Most big/nice hotels/castles/golf clubs etc have wedding licences

I got married in a lovely country hotel, only about 40people for the ceromony, invited everyone else for the night.

joec · 01/04/2006 17:54

bl. didnt know u were thinking of getting married

Sparklemagic · 01/04/2006 18:10

biglips, do as I did and have a really small wedding - we had about 10 people to the actual wedding itself, (and back to our house for lunch), then we had lots of people for the party in the evening.

I felt that getting married was such an intimate thing to do, I basically only wanted our parents, siblings their partners, and my best two friends there.

Worked out fine (and it was weird getting married in front of ANYONE, actually!)

joec- oh yeah... just gonna wait till the right time but not the mo as dp is my Fiance (we got engaged in may04)

On the other side of Newport, very very small village in the valleys. I live on the boundaries of a country park so have amazing views too. (i'm waiting for all the daffs at the moment!) I grew up near Liverpool tho so I really appreciate the mountains as they're a bit thin on the ground oop north Smile

Sounds like you miss it Hausfrau?
