Friend on phone saying hes getting a dot after every word instead of a space...how does he get it back to normal TIA

it's in the view, is there a big "P" in bold font somewhere? Click it off.

Oh, this is a display thing, it won't print with the dots.

If he can see a paragraph sign on his toolbars (a P with a double line at the left, iyswim), he can click on that to stop it.

Backwards P

If it isn't visible, right click the toolbar and select 'standard' to make it visible.

Try 'Tools' 'Options' and check on the 'View' tab. If the spaces box is ticked, untick it.
