For weeks now i have been unable to dial international numbers on my landline, it just gives me a long tone when i dial the relevent code.

I have called 3 times now to try and get this fixed, each time takes me ages to get through and they do all the tests and tell me there is no problem ,and they will get someone to call me back within 24 hrs.

AND THEY NEVER FU*CKING DO!

I just called again and got the same bullsh*t, and guess what? They don't have a number i can call to make a complaint , i have to write in.

I'm Angry, i have people i want to call without it costing me a fortune on my cellphone!

ring them again and mention "Ofcom" \link{http://www.ofcom.org.uk/\here}
I'm sure they'll be fixing your phone very quickly!

I am drained right now, but i will when my red mist descends again, which could be today as my kids finish school in 30 mins

lou33 don't get me started on BT, I can't talk about them without getting very, very red in the face.

I bloody hate them!

lou33 · 31/03/2006 12:45

They are a bunch of tossers

Register with \link{http://www.call18866.co.uk/\18866.co.ukdescription} - it takes minutes to do (trust me!). Then when you want to dial overseas (or even UK/National - free calls!) just dial 18866 before the number.

I use 18866 for everything and no longer have any call charges from BT - I only pay rental. It's their loss - and your gain as my phone bills are now a third of what they were. I hate BT as well and this way they aren't getting my revenue.

MrsRecycle · 31/03/2006 12:53

Oops - sorry about the description bit - the link works though.

Do it now - revenge is sweet.

lou33 · 31/03/2006 12:53

i can only use my cell to call abraod atm, does it work for that?

It should work on your landline - just register with them - put in your landline number when doing this and 18866 deal with the other stuff. Once you're set-up you should be able to use 18866 as the calls are routed via them - and not via BT. Unforutnately, you can't try 18866 on your landline without registering first.

Try it now - sign-up and see what happens - I promise it is very quick.

MrsRecycle · 31/03/2006 12:58

Oh and you've no need to dial the international dialing code first on your BT line - you just dial 18866 then the International Code then the number - it even tells you the cost of the call.

lou33 · 31/03/2006 12:59

i cant dial international calls with my landline, that's the problem

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 31/03/2006 13:00

But 18866 isn't an international number!!!!! It's a UK number. Try it out.

MrsRecycle · 31/03/2006 13:02

I primarily use 18866 to dial uk numbers (free of charge) as well as international numbers.

prettybird · 31/03/2006 13:40

I'll second what MrsRecycle is saying. Try it and see if it works. You've got nothing to lose.

Although you're still "using" BT for the local bit of the call (but not paying them), ie to get to the local exchange, you're then using 18866 for the rest of the call. And you have the added bonus that BT won't get any money for the call from you and you'll save money!

Wehn you dial 18866 at the start of the call, that logs you onto "their" network and they choose how to route it - and charge much less than BT.

lou33 · 31/03/2006 14:25

ok ty i will give it a try Smile

lou33 · 31/03/2006 14:33

Well, the engineer just called me. After weeks of tehm telling me i had no call barring restrictions on my phone, and it had to be the exchange, he told me they had put international call barring on by mistake Angry

Anyway he has taken it off now, but i will still try the other thingy you recommended, thanks!

I used 18866 - v good service

MrsRecycle · 31/03/2006 14:43

All the more reason for not to give BT any more money! I really detest BT and whenever they ring me up trying to sell me a different "package" I ask them if they can beat 18866 and they say no. So even BT concede to 18866.

Come on lou - register now!!

lou33 · 31/03/2006 15:01

ok i registered!

MrsRecycle · 31/03/2006 20:22

Great news lou!- now get dialling 18866 before every call - or do as I did and re-programme your phone, just adding 18866 at the beginning of all numbers.

All together now 18866.....18866.....18866.

lou33 · 01/04/2006 12:48

lol thanks for that btw
