i wish my ds could go too, but he didn't get picked at the end!

mythumbelinas · 31/03/2006 12:08

Grin here miss!!

yackertyyack · 31/03/2006 12:09

Allie love the title....DO you reckon it will ward off the evil sprits???? Grin ....bless your little man for chooseing school over the money!!! What a good boy! Sure there will be plenty more - shame they couldn't have done it next week when it is half term. How is your little lady??? Have you still got her signed up with AK???

izzyrubi · 31/03/2006 12:35

Hi all... I'm v sick today, got dd's virus snif snif snif Sad now dh had to go to work and dd couldn't go to nursery so a friend of mine offered to have her today, I'm really glad otherwise I'd be in big trouble... I hate feeling sick, snif snif snif.

I was reading the last thread and it really irritates me, I wish people would stop fighting over the whole BK thing because it's been going on for YEARS and obviously won't change anything...

Allie >> nice to hear about the job and sorry he can't make it but I'm sure there will be plenty coming!

mumjane · 31/03/2006 12:37

izzyrubi - you are so right! Why cant people accept that everyone is different...some will get work and some wont...probably for the handful that dont get work theres more that do, but nobody shouts about it!! Somebody on the other thread the other day gave some really good advice...they said to call around casting directors (just go online and type in casting directors i think!) and call them and ask who they use....i think thats the only way!

yackertyyack · 31/03/2006 12:46

When I was looking for an agency I called companies like M&S/NEXT/ADAMS/BABY&YOU/MOTHERCARE etc and asked them what companies they used....the same names came up and I applied to those - luckily for us we were accepted by a couple and I chose the one which I prefered - noone influenced our desicion and I still only know one other person with the agency and thats from here!! A couple of jobs we have had the same photographer on and I think it was him who suggested the agency! Its a crazy industry....if all this bitching goes on for babies imagine what it must be like in the adult world of modelling [shudder]!!!!

IZZ > hope you feel better soon - its rotten cause you can't even take anything! Sad

mumjane · 31/03/2006 12:58

Yackerty - when my sis called ES the very 1st time she was looking into joining, and asked about names they said they are not the likes of next, morhtercare etc, as they arent the people that go to the agency for work, the people who do that are advertising agencies. i called next anyway and they said all their child models are from america!

mesenfantsmaman · 31/03/2006 13:02

Next do get the majority of models from America but do use Brit kids too, i know cause my ds was one of them.
Cheers Allie for starting a new thread x

mumjane · 31/03/2006 13:07

mesenfantsmaman - thanks for that, i wish they wouldnt tell some people one thing and others something else, know what i mean??!

mumjane · 31/03/2006 13:07

mumjane · 31/03/2006 13:07

sorry!

mesenfantsmaman · 31/03/2006 13:09

They do do the majority of shoots in America, but occasionally the need more pics etc, or a hurricane blows in (thats what happened with my ds) and they have to use brit kids.

mythumbelinas · 31/03/2006 13:12

You lot seem to be so good at getting info. I'm useless at it. The first company i contacted wouldn't say .. so i gave up!
That's so good, mykidsmum. Years ago (before marriage and kids) I was on a bus with a friend, and there was this gorgeous little boy sat in front of us. We whispered to each other how he looks straight out of a next catalogue. Looking back, his dad probs was taking him to a shoot.

perfumelady · 31/03/2006 13:26

i have emailed companies and casting directors, production companies and even the bbc, not every one replies but some have and to be honest most of them uses multipul agencies and each time the same names came up, mot in nearly all replies, also urbanangels, scalleywags, elizabeth smith,b/k and norriecarr came up most times. what did surprise me that kids london only came up once

perfumelady · 31/03/2006 13:31

Here it is again...

LIST OF AGENCIES AND CHARGES

Here's a list of modelling agencies in the UK and some details about them but please note that this is just information that we have put together so may not be totally correct but it will give you a rough guide. the 1st four listed are the top end of industry with the lowest charges. so would be advised to try them first

Kids London - www.kidslondonltd.com
Top agency, charges a very small fee of around £25 and has an excellent reputation and gets lots of work for the very few kids on their books. They are well known for having international kids and for accepting only a very very small percentage of applicants. They don't accept applications through e-mail so check their website for address, they normally answer applications very quickly. Kids London is a sole rep.

Bruce & Brown - www.bruceandbrown.com
Same style as Kids London, Bruce & Brown is a top end of industry agency with very few kids on their books and gets a lot of work for their kids, the owner Kipsey is really nice. They accept e-mail and postal application throughout the year but can take quite a while to get back especially when the application is done via e-mail. This is also a sole rep. agency and there's no charge involved (with the exception of model book photos - check this, I think you can either pay up-front a lesser amount or have 150.00 taken out of the child's earnings. 25 pound charge for internet inclusion - taken from first job). Small agency so you get the feeling that they know you and your child.

MOT Junior - www.motmodels.co.uk
Known to be a really good agency, don't have many kids on their books and the ones they have don't have similar looks, there's no charge to join but if you choose to be on their website they do charge £60 for photos, this comes out of the first job so no upfront charges. They apparently get a lot of work for their kids and from what I've heard they only take kids older than 18 months (not sure!) they accept e-mail and postal applications and also have a walk-in from 10am-12pm at their London office, they normally reply to applications within a week. This agency is not sole rep.

Urban Angels - www.urbanangelsagency.com
Well known agency, gets lots of work for kids on their books and doesn't have a lot of kids with similar looks. The agency was setup in 2003 and already has a great reputation. They charge only £40 and require sole rep. The owner Alysia is really really nice and their website is very informative, they are well known for not taking many kids and even the ones they like via e-mail are not guaranteed to get a contract after free photo shoot. They accept both e-mail and postal applications but only during certain times of the year, the best is to check their website regularly, they're normally very fast to reply to applications.

Alphabet Kidz - www.alphabetkidz.co.uk
New agency, very nice owner, have only about 100 kids on their books but not counting the babies. Website is nice but again you can't see the babies. They do get work for their kids. They charge only £20 for kids up to 2 years old and they don't have to attend a photoshooting altough the parent's have to sign a contract saying they will keep the agency updated with new photos every 4-8 weeks. Kids older than 2 have to attend a photoshooting and are charged £100 to join. Apparently they're not sole rep and applications can be done via e-mail or postal and they normally answer very very quickly.

Cheeky Kidz - www.cheekykidz.co.uk
New small agency but very reputable, run by two very nice sisters, they only charge £30 for photos and the kids are welcome to go and update them as they find necessary without any further charges. They require sole rep but do get work for their kids, especially older kids or so I've been told. Website isn't the nicest of all and to apply you must download an application form and e-mail them together with photos, it can take a while for them to reply to your application.

Elliot Brown - www.elliottbrownagency.co.uk
Based in Oxford, I've been told it's a very good agency, I have seen their kids on castings and jobs before and know some mums who are happy with their work. The owner, Jane Elliott, is really nice and they don't charge anything to join and aren't sole rep. They accept both e-mail and postal applications altough the e-mail ones aren't always replied to quickly and the postal applications are.

Inspired Kids - www.inspired-kids.com
Well established agency with a newish kids division, they have a very inovative approach to modelling and have a wonderful website, they have very few kids on their books and mostly no kids with similar looks, they are known to only take a small percentage of applicants. They do charge around £100 to be on their website and aren't a sole rep agency, they accept e-mail and postal applications that are normally answered really quickly and also have a walk-in session at their offices from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.

Elisabeth Smith - www.elisabethsmith.co.uk
Definitely a well established and well known agency but they do have lots of kids on their books, they do get a lot of work though. Charges around £165 and requires sole rep. They accept both e-mail and postal applications and are normally quick to reply.

DK - www.dkmodels.net
Apparently a small agency based in Sheffield that does not charge anything to join (or so it says on their website), doesn't have a lot of kids on books and from what I read on this forum they get lots of work for their kids. They only accept postal applications.

Childsplay - www.childsplaymodels.co.uk
Established but huge, Childsplay has loads of kids on their books and charges over £250 to join, I've been told by other mums that they do get work for their kids but I've also been told that they have been getting worse as time goes by, not sure about that. Does require sole rep and accepts e-mail and postal applications, they normally get back to you very quickly.

Truly Scrumptious - www.trulyscrumptious.co.uk
Another very well established and well known agency they charge around £200 for over 2's and around £100 for under 2's to join, only accept postal applications and they're only considered between May and September with the exception of babies under 6 months that are seen all year round. I have seen their kids at castings and met a few mums that are happy with them. From what I've read they do require sole rep.

Scallywags - www.scallywags.co.uk
Probably the biggest agency with over 1000 kids on their books, they are very well known and established and I know a few kids on their books and they all seem to get jobs often. They charge about £170 to join them and that includes a cd with the photos for you to keep, they are sole rep and only accept applications through their website and only at certain periods of the year so keep an eye on it, they normally reply quickly.

Rascals - www.rascals.co.uk
Charges about £200 to join but their new website is quite nice, they have about 350 kids on their website and I'm not sure if they require sole rep. I know they are well established and get work for their kids. On the new website you can only apply through the website and they accept applications all year and are very quickly to reply.

Norrie Carr - www.norriecarr.com
Well known agency, established in 1963 they have had quite a few famous models including Emma Bunton (and Cyan's DP! ). They charge £155 to join them and have photos taken and only take a percentage of applicants, when they have kids with similar looks they let you know straight away. I spoke to them twice and they were always really nice. They accept applications all year round and through e-mail or postal, they are normally very efficient in replying!

Kidz Ltd - www.kidzltd.co.uk
Based in Manchester, they seem to be a good agency, I know one person who's with them and happy and I think someone in this forum is also with them. From what I read on their website they charge £120 for photos and it seems as if they're sole rep but I'm not sure. They only accept postal applications and you need to print an application form from their website.

Tuesday Child - www.tuesdayschildagency.co.uk
Seems to be a well organized agency, there's one mum in this forum that is with them but not for long, I also know someone else that is with them and happy. They're based in Cheshire and I think they require sole rep. I'm not sure of number of kids or costs involved. They only accept postal applications.

Power Child Models - www.powerchildmodels.co.uk
Based in Norwich, I have heard good things about them but not sure of numbers or anything else! They only accept kids that are based in London or East Anglia and they accept both email and postal applications.

Bizzy Kidz - www.bizzykidz.co.uk
They are a well established agency but I'm not sure, lots and lots of parents complain about them and I personally didn't have a good experience but I know that they do get work for some of their kids, maybe the older ones. They charge £94 to join and you must keep them updated with photos until your child is 17. They have loads of kids on their books especially babies, they accept applications through their website and postal and are normally quick to reply.

All Sorts - www.allsortsagency.com
I wasn't sure about this agency but I've been reliably told about it last week, their website is alright and they have about 350 kids on their books of which only about 45 are under 3, it seems like they are a good agency and get work for their kids. They do charge for photos but don't tell you how much and they accept both e-mail and postal applications.

MumJane> I can assure you that M&S and such likes were more than happy to give me the names of agencies they used - big companies have their own marketing departments and therfore do there own booking. We recently did a shoot for a radio station which was done through a casting company -all jobs are done differently.
Sorry I sound like a real boff now but apparently NEXT use babies up to 12months as they are done in this country over this age are done abroad. (or if a hurricane as per mykidsmum!)

perfumelady · 31/03/2006 14:06

someone asked on other thread about not getting work from other agencies, me and allie have had our ds and dd on AK books since January i think but never heard anything yet . not that were too bothered as theyre so young and the travelling would be stressfull. think its a bad age cause of tantrums blah blah blah

2ManyPimms · 31/03/2006 15:28
