I've just been gazumped......................................................!

Put offer in which was turned down, raised my offer twice, third offer was accepted.

Agent assured me they would stop marketing the property and they sent their letter to Solicitors confirming the sale details, I booked a survey and now the vendor has accepted a higher offer!

Guess thats the way it goes!

gosh that's soooooooooo rude when you've committed to booking a survey. best of luck with the continued house hunting! didn't realise you were looking to buy rather than rent.

I would prefer to rent (initially) but the decent houses are gone before I can even get over to have a look.

Its unusual for both the sales and lettings market to be busy at the same time!

3 mumsnetters who have met me, forced me to change back to me!

So I went against my ethics and offered £5k more than the other guy + exchange in 2 to 4 weeks.

The agent have got back to me and the other guy says he will exchange in a few days with no Survey!

Who in their right mind buys a house without getting a survey done?

If the vendor was not 100% happy with what you offered he should have refused to stop marketing - we did this - accepted an offer but said we would still market until the survey was done and final price agreed.

Glad we did too cos we had a bitch of a buyer who messed us around no end - we finally had the satisfaction of telling her to bog off when someone who viewed early on after her offer said they wanted to buy it.

Not quite your situation cos our buyer was a bitch from hell, but your vendor is out of order if he agreed to stop marketing after your offer was accepted.

The house we're buying, the owner has already had 2 sales fall through on her so she's been honest with us and said she will still market until everythings been okayed.
