WE have gone on loads, theres usually alwys great entertainment on for the kids and in my case if the kids are happy it means i get peace and can relax, customer services on the park we usually go to have always been amazing and are 24 hr.The park mini supermarket is expensive but then yuo probably realise that anyway so we take shopping for the length of the holiday and just top up n little things.Anything else just ask!!

Ailsa · 30/03/2006 22:27

We've been on loads. Where are you staying?

Bozza · 30/03/2006 22:33

I would say it all depends on the park you are going to, your expectations and what you like to do when you are there.

Ive been on a few and I think they are ok although you have to look out for hidden extras and do a bit of research into the parks before booking. (Ive only been on the Haven Park ones)Many have outdoor activities that cost extra ie mini golf, rides etc and they are usually the type of things kids love to do. Ds1 loves the bungy ropes but at £3 a time (Devon Cliffs) it works out expensive.

The kids clubs are great as long as the child is over 5 otherwise an adult has to stay with them which kinds of defeats the object (ds1 wants time away from us oldies, luckily hes old enough now)The parks also put on lots of entertainment for the kids in the early evening, normally a quick show or disco, competitions etc. If your children want to take part and you want to get a seat it is better to get there early otherwise you will end up standing for hours and if you try to get the kids to leave before the entertainment is over all hell breaks loose, even bribes of ice cream dont always work. would also recomend stopping off at supermarket before you arrive as on site shops are v.expensive as is eating on site. Oh and make sure you have a stock of biscuits or other snack things in the caravan as there is nothing worse than sitting in there at night, once the kids are asleep and being desperate for something to nibble when you know the cupboards are bare. (voice of experience, luckily i have learnt from it now)
I love sun holidays, they are a nice cheap way of spending time on a holiday park that would normally cost about £200 (at least).

Wherever you are going i am sure you will have a great time and the kids will love it, especially when they see the kids club characters. I have fond memories of chasing Rory, Cheeky and Anxious around Perran Sands for a photo. I told everyone I was doing it for DS1 but the truth was I wanted one just as much GrinIm just a big kid at heart, you should see me at Disney!!!
Wish I was going away, have still got 10wks before my hols Sad. Have a lovely time and I hope the weather's nice for you.

Thank you to everyone for your messages, have got snacks ready to take, cos I love to pig out on junk when the kids are asleep :o!
We are going to Pontins at Camber Sands and have read up quite a bit about extra charges for things, so hopefully no nasty shocks there!!!
Only 2 days to go now, i'm more excited than the kids!!!! (blush)

my aunt went on one one year and it was fab... so next year we all went...
it was VILE!

it was pontins at brean sands and it was the most disgusting place I have EVER been to.

MrsRecycle · 31/03/2006 12:46

Oh Scrumpty - we'll be neighbours. We have a static caravan on the site next door. Mind you I've got to work next week, so I'll only be there until Sunday.

I can give you a bit of info at Camber Sands tho - the Camber Castle pub does good home cooked food (and kids meals). If you are venturing outside go to Rye - 10 minutes up the road. It's beautiful and they have a market there (can't remember what day tho). If you drive, Hastings is about 20 minutes away and lots to do if it's raining (shopping, cinema, aquarian).

Warning, the shop at Pontins doesn't have that much fruit/veg fresh meat so if you planning on self-catering you might want to do a shop at Budgens in Rye (opposite the Station).

Thank you Mrs Recycle, looked at the camber castle pub website, but wasn't sure, we'll def give it a try after your reccomendation!
Thanx again!!!

We've been on at least 1 sun holiday at year for the last 5 years. Off to Greenacres in Wales in a fortnight. had a great 4 days at Unity in Brean last September.Mostly go to North Wales or Somerset. I think these holidays are excellent value for money but it is a good idea to do a bit of research. I always like to make sure there are plenty of places to visit not too far away from where we stay. I slipped up once a couple of years back, we went to Doniford Bay - it said direct access to beach (just what you want with a 3 year old). I assumed it would be a sandy beach but when we got there it was totally pebbles.
other than that we have always had excellent holidays, great value for money.

I'm looking at booking a sun holiday, does anyone have the codewords below the tokens since saturday? There should be a different word each day. Thanks
