Hi everyone, how are you all doing? In case you've forgotten me, I moved to Nigeria in January and this is the first time I've been able to get onto Mumsnet since then. We've no internet at home so I access it at the British Council but the system is slow and MN has never downloaded properly before.

We're surviving the rigours of life here - the entire country has just been closed for a week to allow a census to be done - we'd nearly run out of food by the end of it! Today I'm killing time at the BC because our apartment is being fumigated to rid it of cockroaches and mosquitoes. Oh the joys! On the up-side, the weather is always warm and we had a fantastic view of the eclipse yesterday, which was almost total here.

All for now and I hope I can get onto MN again - logging on today made me realise how much I miss you all! Sue

How strange...I was another MN thinking of you recently (something about Jakarta was on Telly and I thought Ohhh I wounder how Suedonim is getting on in.....hmmm....now where was it?? Africa somewhere???)

Glad to here you're all ok, not so nice about the creppy crawlies at home though.

Oh, how lovely to hear from you all and get the latest news. You're probably not going to believe this but I'm sending this from the UK! There's been a hitch with our visa renewals and dd and I have unexpectedly had to leave Nigeria temporarily - how sad. We got home yesterday and are still adjusting - even the local scuzzy Co-op seems a cornucopia of delights, with goodies like yoghurt and sausages and newspapers and then today I was positively hyperventilating at the temptations in Sainsbury's!! We're home until 21st April so have some time to gather together the things we want to take back with us and I'll be able to get in some quality MN time as well.

Oh well, time to go again. We should have gone last Thursday but dd had tonsillitis so tomorrow is the day. I ought to be madly doing last minute packing & cleaning but MN is much more important.

Just reviving this to wave to you all! The internet here in Lagos is actually working today - amazing, esp as there's a telephone compnay strike and we sometimes have no comms with the outside world at all. Next week the airport staff are due to strike and the power workers plan to strike from 30th June. Exciting times, hehe!

We're doing okay atm plus it's a mere three weeks and five days until we get back to the UK for the summer - not that I'm counting. I shall be doing some serious internetting, I can tell you!
