BT Call Centres is there a trick to it?

BT have disconnected me. I cannot get hold of anyone who has a grasp of the english language, I remember something on Fern and Philip about how to trick call centres, any ideas?

i think it was presh # lots of times or 0 lots of times!

They had this on Richard Hammands show, I think you keep pressing hash or star button.

Isn't that 0 thing to get out of the IVR system (the automated press 1, press 3 blah, blah)?
