Smashed double glazing.......

I accidently smashe the glass panel on the inside of our front door a while ago. I boarded it up because we can't afford to get it fixed just now. It's double glazed and is only the inside anel that smashed...my Mum is coming here next week and I don't want her to see it! Can we take out the broken glass and just leave the outside panel for now or would it fall out??

I haven't got insurance and the two glaziers I've called didn't seem to want to talk to me unless they came out to fix it!! I'm assuming the two panels are fixed in independantly too but just wanted to see if anyone would know offhand :)
