Hope I can be classed as a newish mum (ds is 8 months old). Would love to swap dieting tips and advice. Breastfed for 7 months, but didn,t manage to lose extra weight. Imagined I would be a stick insect by the time ds was 3 months old with all the feeding I was doing! Stick insect I'm not - baby elephant more like it. I'm heavier now than I have ever been. Managed to lose 1.5 stone at WW before Christmas, but have been incredible BAD over the holidays. Facing the music at my weigh-in tomorrow night. Hope the scales don't shout, "B-R OFF!!"

Demented - I just meant that it has far more milk in it than a cappuccino. Our coffee shop downstairs does a fantastic one but it is huge and made with full cream milk, so definite no no

Hi Dmum

Beccarollover · 06/01/2004 09:14

Hi Dmum, welcome aboard

I finished yesterday with 3 points in the bank so not too bad at all.

I got a steamer for christmas, anyone got one or know any good things I can do in it? Or is it going to be a complete waste of cupboard space?

Hulababy · 06/01/2004 09:18

Morning Becca. Well done for yesterday. I saved up 2 points yesterday - for a drink at the weekend

I am using Melsy's spreadsheet to record it all which is great. Thanks Melsy.

I have an electric steamer and think it is great. The veggies do definitely taste better when done it as they keep more flavour. I don't use it for fish and meat much though. I don't eat meat so not keen on doing that for DH, and I am am concerned that fish will make the rest of the food taste/smell fishy. I am thinking of getting one of those george Forman grills for my birthday in Feb for meat.fish.

Have a go with the steamer though and see how you get on. Especially good for food that only needs a short cooking time, like asparagus, etc.

Beccarollover · 06/01/2004 09:20

Ive got a george foreman, they are good, my only complaint is when I last did salmon in it it took a LONG time to get rid of the smell! Other than that its fab

Is it just a guessing game with the steamer? Do you just throw the veg in and steam away at it until you think its done?

Hulababy · 06/01/2004 09:39

Did you not get a little book with it to say how long?

I think potatoes and carrots if sliced take about 15-20 minutes, depending on how you like them. More delicate veggies take less than 5.

Beccarollover · 06/01/2004 09:44

doh, sorry dumb blond talking there, of course there will be a book! sorry

Hulababy · 06/01/2004 09:45

No problem!

wilbur · 06/01/2004 10:05

Okay, I got waylaid by the leftovers in the fridge and am only just starting the lose weight thing today (sorry codswallop, I'm v v bad). Anyway, I am 5'8" and on the scales this morning, I weigh 11 stone 13lbs and have 40.5% body fat, which can't be good. I would like to get down to 10 stone. Had small bowl of cereal this morning, not hungry yet.... So no more booze and chocolate mousse, I am going to be a sylph.

melsy · 06/01/2004 10:45

Morning fellow computor nerd girls & newcomers

Glad my points record chart is coming in handy, Im on it every day checking in. Any one else need it let me know.

There must be a trend this week, I also saved 3 points yesterday. Is it bad not to use them up with food, I was told you shouldnt go lower than 14 points in a day????

Demented · 06/01/2004 10:48

Morning! My first official weigh-in this morning and I have lost 4lbs since Sunday (this was after my 6lb weigh gain over four days at my parents', seems to be as I suspected that it was mostly fluid). If possible I would like another biggish weight loss this week then 1lb a week would be fine. Clairabelle and Dmum, all the best for tonight (and anyone else weighing in today).

Today's aim for me is to drink 2 litres of water so far have eaten a banana and I am drinking a glass of water.

Lisa78 · 06/01/2004 10:49

Morning Melsy - I could do with your chart if thats ok?

codswallop · 06/01/2004 11:02

  • a m now well under the half way mark line on the ten stone front!!

Steaming - cant you just use the microwave?

Have been to sbury market this am and bought tonnes of veg all for 4 quid.

OP posts:
Beccarollover · 06/01/2004 11:04

sure i can use the mic for veg but may as well use steaming contraption santa brought me!

When is everyones official weigh in day - post with it and i could keep a note of how were doing? What do you think?

wilbur · 06/01/2004 11:13

Mine will be Tuesday morning as it's one of my less frantic mornings. Fab if you can keep a chart, becca - I did ediets after ds was weaned, didn't follow the recipes much but loved the little chart they kept.

Beccarollover · 06/01/2004 11:17
