pvc and vinyl

could any 1 tell me is there any diference between pvc and vinyl

PVC is poly vinyl chloride. I think there are other types of vinyl but the words often are used to mean the same thing. Why?

Yes just looked it up: PVC is the basic stuff, and things called "vinyl" usually contain pvc and some other stuff.
