MadameDeMars · 26/03/2006 23:14

I think you'll find it's Mrs McCartney Mills VVVQV

spidermama · 26/03/2006 23:14

\link{http://www.vegansociety.com/phpws/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=6&MMN_position=24:22\The Vegan Society} has a fair bit to say on the subject of calcium.

Caligula · 26/03/2006 23:15

Turnips.

Anyone who needs anything else is obviously a heretic who should be burned.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/03/2006 23:15

I'll call her what i feel appropriate, thank you M de M Wink

What are the substitutes though???

Seriously....what do you eat to provide calcium etc

OP posts:
MadameDeMars · 26/03/2006 23:16

tsk! tsk!!!!!!!

spidermama · 26/03/2006 23:17

Well I'll be! The Vegan Society says

"DAIRY PRODUCTS ARE NOT THE BEST SOURCE OF CALCIUM AS THEY CAUSE CALCIUM LOSSES
AT THE SAME TIME AS INCREASING CALCIUM INTAKE.

A third of the calcium absorbed from milk and more than two thirds of the calcium absorbed from cheese is wasted in this way. In contrast, [low
oxalate] green leafy vegetables such as kale and spring greens provide plenty of well absorbed calcium while at the same time reducing calcium
losses. Calcium supplements lie in between in terms of their effect on retained calcium."

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/03/2006 23:19

OP posts:
spidermama · 26/03/2006 23:20

Is it the fetid mould scraped off tufo when it's left so long it goes black and bubbly. Wink

gibberish · 26/03/2006 23:21

Lol @ drinking lentils soren...

SorenLorensen · 26/03/2006 23:22

I'm sure you could make lentil wine...

spidermama · 26/03/2006 23:24

I honestly doubt that any proper vegans would go anywhere near \link{http://store.foodfightgrocery.com/vegancaviar.html\Vegan Caviar.}

BlackaddersAunt · 26/03/2006 23:25

Ha! Turnip greens are on the list.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/03/2006 23:25

oh yuk spidermama! Shock

I know you are joking btw, but seriously, why make vegan foods to be like carnivore/pescaterian type foods? What is the point?

OP posts:
gibberish · 26/03/2006 23:25

Anything wine-ish would do at the moment - shoelace wine/fairy liquid wine/ deep heat wine - the possibilities are endless!

SorenLorensen · 26/03/2006 23:26

Not Fairy liquid wine...it would have to be Ecover wine (even though it wouldn't get your innards as clean as Fairy Grin)

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/03/2006 23:27

oh yum - please order me some of that lumpfish egg flavoured soya protein. Nice.

This doesnt do much to encourage vegan diet does it?

(Thought that link was a company called Food Fright lol)

OP posts:
bubble99 · 26/03/2006 23:27

Righty ho! I'll just pop out for a pint of Kale then.

spidermama · 26/03/2006 23:27

Totally agree qv. I didn't bring up vegan caviar btw. I merely googled it when it was brought up by someone else.

That other link though shows a pretty decent list of foods I never knew contained calcium. Looking at that why would anyone in their right minds drink the pussy old milk made for another species?

spidermama · 26/03/2006 23:28

Right then. I'll do a \link{http://www.interlog.com/%20john13/recipes/calcium.htm\link} to this again for all of you giggling at the back.

gibberish · 26/03/2006 23:29

ROFL!!!! Ah well, your innards may not be as clean with Ecover, but your conscience will be GLEAMING! Grin

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/03/2006 23:29

Does it really have pus in it though?

Mastitis is "just" swollen breast tissue isnt it?

OP posts:
bubble99 · 26/03/2006 23:29

Pus in organic milk?? Really?? I'm genuinely intrigued.
