(stupid question alert) how are corner sofas delivered?

Reason i ask is because we have seen one but our lounge is upstairs. Are they delivered as a corner or do they "fix it" when they deliver?

what happens if it won't fit up the stairs? will they just leave it in the kitchen(our only downstairs room) or will they take it away again?

sorry to be so thick, we had trouble getting our sofa up the stairs when we moved in and all i have in my mind is the episode of friends with Ross shouting PIVOT

ours was fixed when it was delivered - came in 2 pieces

I'm pretty sure they are delivered in two sections

mines huge and came in 5 pieces and totally filled the living room Managed to wedge it where it needs to be though!!!

Mine came in about 3 pieces and the base was screwed on when it was in the right room. It's huge as well - they always look smaller in the shop!

we only have the measuremenets, not seen it in a shop (yet) just a catalogue but we are depserate for a new one and a corner unit will serve us better than 2 smaller sofas.

SOunds like we will be able to fit it in then, phew!

Yeah it will fit, DP used masking tape to see how much room it would take up. It is the same size as our current sofa and chair which are already in a sort of corner shape but they are tatty and "well used"

Beware I ordered one from Ikea, (in didn't come in a corner lorry). Once we put it together we realised that it filled the room totaly and didn't leave any space to get round to the front of it. I didn't fancy jumping over jukes of Hazzard style so I manage to persuede Ikea to swap it even though they siad it wasn't their policy. I must have cried enough .

It's not a stupid question. Far better to ask now than wait until the thing's delivered and won't fit your house. It is possible to buy sofas that can be split into sections and assembled in your lounge - shop around.
