We do. Have given away a few bits and pieces. Just about to go and claim my first offer Grin

Yes, it's getting really big now don't you think? The emails take forever to read!

FrannyandZooey · 25/03/2006 13:13

What are you claiming?

TwoToTango · 25/03/2006 13:51

This looks interesting - what is freecycling?

Yorkiegirl · 25/03/2006 14:01

I claimed some beads and other jewellery making stuff. Really pleased with it!

no but am a member. fantastic idea. Will probably end up using it to give away all our baby junk.

chocolateshoes · 25/03/2006 14:11

I love it! Collected 2 stair gates the other week. Its brilliant & I hope it continues to expand. I've told loads of people.

Detta · 25/03/2006 20:09

Twototango it's a system online whereby you can offer anything you want to get rid of (free) and also go through the messages to see if there's anything being given away that you need. I think the only proviso is that you have to actually offer something first, before you take anything. To find your local group go to (I think) Freecycle.org (or maybe just google!)

bubblerock · 25/03/2006 20:13

I get the emails but haven't taken part yet - there are more and more emails each day though so it's getting popular in our area!

TwoToTango · 25/03/2006 20:24

Thanks Detta I'll give it a go - sounds good to me - i like a freebie and also getting rid of stuff

Racers · 25/03/2006 20:25

I'm also registered but haven't posted yet. I should get around to offering some stuff soon.

TwoToTango · 25/03/2006 20:36

I just went to freecycle.org and registered, waiting for my membership to be approved. Can't wait to start looking!! thanks Detta

sharklet · 25/03/2006 20:38

Naturally! Its a great idea.

PandaG · 25/03/2006 20:40

We are avid freecyclers - have rehomed lots of stuff we no longer need, and have given a good home to several things including a sewing machine - something I've wanted for ages but couldn't justify buying

nikkie · 25/03/2006 21:26

I get the emails but there isn't a lot in our area.

BettySpaghetti · 25/03/2006 21:27

Yes we do! I recommend it to people all the time.

SaintGeorge · 26/03/2006 13:49

Love it.

Have so far got rid of loads of outgrown or outplayed kids stuff and have collected some brilliant things in return including:

Exercise bike.
Set of 4 brand new Ikea bar stools.
Massive set of calligraphy pens and inks.

Recommend it whenever I can.

That's really interesting - thanks for posting it, Yorkiegirl. I'd never heard of it before.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 26/03/2006 19:59

Yes.... love it love it love it - other than the 10 million emails i get a day!

Racers · 27/03/2006 15:43

Have just offered my first items and someone has taken one of them. They work at the same place too, so v. easy handover!

Great system, I could get hooked but then the local charity shops might miss out a bit!

NomDePlume · 27/03/2006 15:47

OOOOH, what a fabbo idea. Might join.

PiccadillyCircus · 27/03/2006 16:03

Have discovered there are 354 members near me.

So am having a look.

Orlando · 27/03/2006 16:08

Joined about a month ago. Frankly amazed that our sleepy little market town had a group. It's a great idea.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 27/03/2006 16:10

i got rid of my old pushchair (jess's travel system but without the car seat) to freecycle. Havent taken up any offers yet - doesnt seem to be much im after at the moment!

scampadoodle · 27/03/2006 16:10

I put a sofa on freecycle & got loads of response. While I waited for the bloke to come & pick it up, I had to put it outside the house 'cause our new sofa had arrived. It got nicked! (a freecycling of sorts, I suppose). Felt awful, as I had to email the bloke to tell him what had happened!

Have lots of other things to get rid of, including a computer so will definitely use it again.

Ledodgy · 29/03/2006 23:21
