Searching for care file - update

I would have just updated the thread I started about this a while ago, but I can't find the thread (how are you supposed to use the search option anyway? it's blooming useless!)

Anyway Grin about 6 weeks ago I applied for access to my care file, and today, after 6 weeks of waiting in eager anticipation, experiencing feelings of excitement, dread etc, I received a letter from the Social Care and Health Dept saying that after an extensive seach of their offices where the archive records are held, they cannot find any references to me, and they have given me a name and address of someone at Social Services to contact, to see if she can find any information about me, which I have just done.

I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone here? Did you eventually find out any information? I'm really disappointed, and upset that I might still never find out about my childhood.

hi schnapps, i had posted on your earlier thread, my sis done this and she got a copy of what was on file, but there were loads of stuff that was missing,(things that we know happend and were not logged) something to do with the Social Worker hadn't written up the paper work etc Anyway my sister is still chasing social services, what i would say though is don't give up and contact the number you have been giving, a file just doesn't disapear, its prob just that they want you to disapear and not to contact them kinda thing, just keep on top of them, do you know the names of some of your old social workers? i would badger them with the names that you know!

The problem is that the info I have is very limited. All I've been able to provide them with is the name and date of birth of me, my mother and my father, the name and address of a relative I lived with at some point, and my first permanent address.
I know that I was in a children's care home at some point, and that I've lived at more than one foster home, but I have no details, and all this relates to before I was 7, and I can't remember anything.
Anyway, I have sent a letter to the lady suggested in the letter I received today, so I'll just have to wait and see what kind of response I get to that.
