Know how you feel. My dh's mother died nearly 20 years ago. Some years he is snappy all day and other years it goes by unmentioned. I don't have any real suggestions on how to deal with it. However, we always make a donation to Cancer Research around the date, which at least makes us feel that we might help prevent someone else dying in the same way. Could you do something similar?

I dont think that there is very much you can do TBH, it is going to be a sad day for him no matter what.
I think that if he tried to forget it in any way then he may only feel guilty for that, he needs to think and remember his brother and anniverseries are an acute time in which to do this.
Just let him be.

Does bereavement counselling help anyone? If it does, it can't be too late as he is affected so much by his brother's death.
