cars and servicing ... does anyone know,please

hi i have a peugeot 306 and was just wondering if anyone can help me. my cars mot is due tomorrow and im getting an oil filter/change, and new air filter.

i have only done 3,600 miles since the last mot and service and was just wondering if anyone knew how much filters and stuff cost, and whether they actually need to be replaced as i have done so little miles.

i always panic this time of year as im worried how much the cost will be. thanks

I used to live with a mechanic and he always said every 6,000 miles for these things

so i could probably get away with another years worth. i'l lhave a word with the mechanic tomorrow.

I've always been told it's either a certain mileage having been covered OR 12 months. The mileage thing being dependent upon the car, it's age and recommended servicing. The 12 month thing is because - sometimes, doing less miles on a car, particularly if you're always doing short journeys, can actually be just as bad for your car as doing high mileage. You may find that you may not need to change your air filter - but after 12 months, I would always go for an oil change and replacement oil filter irrespective of mileage covered!

just was wondering how much it all costs

oil filters / oil are relatively cheap, its the mechanic who fits them that charges unless u know someone who does it.

no i dont. wish i did then maybe it woud stop me panicking. i'll just have to wait til tomorrow and see how it goes.
