I've finally admitted to myself (and DH) that I feel lousy. Crying lots, very short tempered, finding it all a bit much.
So I went to see my HV to talk about it.
Part of the problem I'm having is everyone questioning me when it comes to DS. HIs sleeping, his nursing, his eating solids, what he wears...etc..etc. I have to justify everything!
Meanwhile in the midst of a 10 minute conversation with the HV I was made to feel that:
a) DS's sleep issues are my fault (he shouldn;t sleep with me, I shouldn't feed him during the night, I should do controlled crying)
b) He should have an eating routine (I BF on demand)
c) He's putting on too much weight (was she joking when she said he should be on a diet?)

So now, rather than feel better I actually feel a whole lot worse.

Someone please tell me that I'm not the worst mom in the world?!!!!

if you are tired it is always easier to see teh negative and focus on that because you are agood mum it then makes you feel you should be doing someting else and this can bring you down just repeat numerous times put it on a post itnote thatteh GP says DS is Happy and Healthy

sounds good to me :)

Yes you should get a t-shirt saying you're a great mum with a great kid!

Some HV's are really crap, they spout the same nonsense to everyone and don't see us as individuals.

Keep going and speak to another HV if poss in another practise. Or have you any pals with babies? Sometimes it takes another mum in the same situation to make sense of it all!

you can't overfeed a breastfed baby - he is not fat - he is big because he is meant to be.

Be proud of yourself and what you have done with your DS - he is thriving. Take that as your guide and ignore everyone else.

My SIL is a HV and her favourite saying is 'well the guidelines say now that...'. she never questions 'the guidelines' - it's like a devout christian who says 'well the bible tells us we mustn't..' Bonkers IMO

I have tiddly kids and could have got paranoid about how small they were - but I just accept they are what they are - and get one with it. If you can do the same with your ds you will be much happier Smile
