I am so dizzy tonight it is unbelieveable. I made pizza for dinner, made the whole quantity of the dough recipe, using half for the pizza and keeping the other half for bread. We sat down to eat the pizza and I popped the bread in the oven, about two hours then passed. I kept thinking that's strange, I can smell pizza burning but I didn't burn any pizza, DH then eventually came through and said "Have you burnt toast", the penny still not dropping I said "No", needless to say DH found the blackened bread in the oven, had he not been home I would probably have burnt the house down.

I am meeting a friend to go shopping tomorrow and DS1 asked me "When are you meeting X tomorrow" (don't know why he asked because he can't even tell the time) and I just stood there looking at him with no recollection of my arrangement to meet my friend.

I just feel foggy brained all the time just now. I am I alone here?

No
I could recount similar episodes too dull to contemplate.

Just as long as your kids think you are great and partner tolerates your fogginess then it's OK

stupidgirl · 28/12/2003 22:48

You are certainly not alone. I think it's one of those symptoms of being a mum that they don't tell you about until it's too late....

lavender1 · 28/12/2003 22:53

No, left a message on sister's answerphone today and actually asked myself what date it was on the thing, must have sounded thick and brainless. tis normal

Demented · 28/12/2003 23:17

At least it's not just me, my other favourite is to leave the oven on all night at 240 C, DH goes nuts. The very last sentence of my first post makes absolutely no sense at all, just sums me up just now.

Did any of you find this got worse after the birth of your second child? I found my brain cells came back after DS1 but it just aint happening this time.

You're probably knackered Demented, and so not thinking straight...

wilbur · 29/12/2003 09:38

Ditto demented - I spent yesterday evening trying to put stuff away from Xmas, find places for new toys etc, and basically just blundered around like a pinball in a machine, moving stuff from one place to another and not achieving anything. I think the flat is messier now than when I started

melsy · 29/12/2003 09:46

You just have to look at wot I did on the monkhouse,(may he rest in peace), post to see what a state I am in . Good job I am not going back to a job were I look after £40 mil!!!!! I be fired after the first minute. OOOOh I feel like I have dementia.

Demented · 29/12/2003 20:38

That's a relief RobinW, it's not quite three months since I finished feeding DS2, I am planning on eating more healthily in the New Year so I suppose that will help.

I topped off yesterday's disasters by going into the kitchen to take the nappies out of the washing machine, didn't bother putting the light on, the nappies didn't feel very clean, when I put the light on turns out I had only rinsed them, not washed them, gross.

Today was a better day though.

I got an e-mail recently from an old friend asking if he could stay here just before Christmas and if I'd organise a dinner party for him. I forwarded it to dp with suitably cutting comments added in ... but, you've guessed it, I hit reply instead of forward. That is dizzy.

I overuse the phrase "remember that I've been through childbirth"!

Off to suck on some fish.

Demented · 30/12/2003 16:05

LOL fisil!

I must buy more fish RobinW, I am guilty of not eating enough of it in general, although I did have a huge craving for prawns a few nights ago, maybe my body's telling me something.

Yuck, I hate fish. Can you get fish tablets? . What is it in the fish that your brain needs? And why don't they make chocolate impregnanted with it?

KatieMac · 30/12/2003 17:55

It's fish oil you need (old fashioned Cod liver oil!) However combined with EPoil it works a treat (-it has aslo helped by slightly dyslexic DH)

Don't eat too much oily fish as there is a probloem with Mercury level (info from Readers Digest) Fish oil is not a problem! (can make you fart tho'

Demented · 31/12/2003 00:08

Arrrgh, so my Mum was right then, all those years she was bleating on about taking Cod Liver Oil, she doesn't even take capsules, she just swallows great spoonfuls of the stuff, gross!

Just wanted to thank you all for your advice (particularly RobinW) and stories, I have finally got round to buying fish oils (3 for 2 in Boots)for myself and DS1 and will give them a go. Will let you know how we get on.
