My mum says the specific ocean?
Another one I heard was a friend who reckoned we all evolved from orgasmic soup.

drastic park instead of jurassic park from a friends ds

hunkermunker · 22/03/2006 20:10

Shopfitter I always read as shoplifter - am always surprised to see vans out advertising their trade!

Misled I read as mizzled.

Sundried I read as sundreed (as in sundry items)

When I was a kids I though "Wall's" (as in ice-cream) was "Wallis"

I was a teenager before I realised that "intriguing" (is that how you spell it, it looks wrong?) was not pronounced "intruguing" (eg introoguing"

I also didn't realise that my mum was being humourous when she talked about kings and queens being "coronated" at a "coronation". I found this out when i was at Uni studying medieval history, and got an essy back full of red lines and the comment "I presume you mean "crowned"" Blush My mum though this was hilariuos, but I was a bit miffed!

Callisto · 22/03/2006 20:33

Oh Wallace, sorry but that is funny about the coronated essay. If it makes you feel better a friend studying Lord of the Flies at uni wrote a whole essay (this was before the days of the computer) spelling Ralph as Ralf. Oops. Smile

Wallace · 22/03/2006 20:40

I do find it funny now Grin

LOL at your friend - it must have looked like they'd never read the book!

deegward · 22/03/2006 20:46

That stuupid name Sbiobham, I read it as I see it ie Siobannm not Chevaune as I know it is. Read Rankin books and she is one of the main characters, but I just read it as Siobann. Even if I what it on tele, I just want to shout SIOBANN!!!

lucy5 · 22/03/2006 20:49

I remember that Deejags, reading about that one from Bananarama in Smash Hits and thinking she was called, sio-ban!

The first time I read Neil Kinnocks name i thought it said knicknock, my family still tease me to this day.

lucy5 · 22/03/2006 20:50

oops sorry Deegward, i've done it again Blush

deegward · 22/03/2006 20:54

Quite like deejags, just trying to work out how you tranpose it to that.

lucy5 · 22/03/2006 21:07

There is another poster called deejags but knowing my observational skills, she's probaly called Florence! Grin
