I'm pretty new to this and chose my user name before I realised everyone had such interesting names on here. I was just wondering if people would like to share the story behind their name......

I was scooselooseabootthishoose because I'm scouse and a lovely mnetter came up with the name it's now been abbreviated as another poster had a very similar name.

I was another name for 8 years when some bitch came along and outed me to the head teacher at school.

I had to name change immediately as she knew who I was but I didnt know who she was.

Cow!

Ruprekt in the Michael Cain film makes me laugh a lot hence my name.

I name changed from something which identified me a bit too closely to anyone who knows me (too close to my Twitter name), and this was the first thing that popped into my mind.

It's taken from Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, of course - the song happened to be running round in my head that day.

I have an unexpected item in my shagging area

It was supposed to be a temporary NN for a specific thread in general health but some people were kind enough to tell me it made them laugh.

It made me feel slightly better about my unexpected item.

I have already thought of my next NN should I ever decide to name change. It is a truely excellent one which I might sell to the highest bidder

I had my colours done, when it was the thing, just after my engagement was announced and the lady said, you are one of the few people who can wear white and creams and ivories (unless they have a pink or blue tinge) will drain you. So I was married in white. Had a veil and a train and everything.

I lived on the Kazakh steppe for 8 years, and started mn from there (many years ago now, (reaches for dentures and walking stick)

When I first joined I was planning my wedding to my Spanish DP and that's the word for fiancé in Spanish!

I've name changed a few times. My first name was my twitter name, and twitter shows my real first name so I thought it best to be a bit more anonymous especially when I confess to things here. I had a couple of other names but they didn't feel right. One evening I got that uncomfortable 'being stared at' feeling, looked up from the lap top to see my dog giving me the patented Paddington Bear hard stare. So here we are...

I pushed the button on the bottle when I just meant to sniff it. I inhaled it and everyone else thought it hilarious. I didn't.
And I didn't even like the smell that stuck in my nose for days.

Mine is from a line from ds's favourite book, the author of which clearly knows all about how cats think

couldn't think of a name, thought it ought to be about rabbits as i have four mini-lops, came up with 'lovebunnies', didn't like it, tried 'lovebunny' which sounds like a porn queen and so totally inappropriate it made me laugh - so i kept it.

An absolutely hilarious post on MN about an old lady and farting and an ambulance man called Alan...still cracks me up!

Nc'd last week as someone appeared with a really similar nn.

Was watching a film at the time so picked my favourite character. (second time I've told that particularly dull story in the last half hour!)

I wanted a cunning disguise (I actually drink coffee, rarely tea)

I'mSoSorryAlan that was the best thread ever. I was in tears by the time we got to that poor woman!

I used to be someone else on here which was a name that was apt for my situation at the time,

Then someone, Worraliberty I think, said she had always thought my name read DowntonTrout and so, because I would always have been linked with a very long, memorable saga, I changed to this.

Nothing to do with Downton Abbey or trout fishing.

And probably, in hindsight, not much of a name change

Errr, well, mine is pretty dull compared with most peoples but I name change fairly often for stalking purposes

My MN name is from the Goyte song, sort of. I was name changing and couldn't think of a name when this song come on the Radio.

Swamp logger from 'AxMen', which DH was watching while I was MNetting & couldn't be arsed think of anything witty.

I had another NN, but it was similar to a MN regular (who I've not seen for aaages rhondajean - is she still around?)

Then there were LOADS of threads about how dishy Prof Cox is but I can't stand the man. He is freaky and he scares me.

My reasons being:

He has scary hair
big teeth
wild eyes.

I do like being BrianCox though, feels right, I just change the last bit whenever I feel the need. I have been:

BrianCoxHasScaryHair
BrianCosHasSmellySox

and am now UpTheDuff, because I am!

I have been a few other NN's but none of them felt right so reverted back to ol' Coxy and in a perverted kinda way, I now like him more than I used to because of my MN association with him

I like Jaffa cakes and I have hips don't think they are related

Mine is my name, only glammed up into something much more exciting. I actually tried to make it ridiculous, like Jerry Springer guests, who have names like La'Keisha-Shyana. However, like all weird names you hear (in the playground or showbiz) you just get used to them...and I really like my nom de plume. Makes me think of champangne glasses, ice, chandeliers and all things glam. Just don't call me Chris, okay?
