My son pulls his hair out by grabbing handfuls with his dummy and pulling. He then puts the dummy in his mouth with the hair stuck to it!! How horrible! I can't imagine anything more vile. He has made a huge bald patch on the top of his head
. I have cut his hair very short to try and stop it, but am reluctant to withdraw his dummy as he only has it at night, or in the car, and loves it so. I don't want the behaviour to establish itself for adulthood though... I have heard it is associated with anxiety, but he is a very chilled out kid and has very few tantrums etc. He has a brother who is 5.5, and we moved house in the summer, but neither of those seem to be a problem to him - he and his bro are inseperable and play together beautifully. I have been a bit irritable with my husband lately, but we don't row, and it's all fairly subtle - I'd be suprised if he picked up on it - just the usual stuff about cleaning up, cooking etc!
The habit has been going on for about 6 months, and is getting worse.
Please help me! Any ideas/help/similar tales would be very welcome.
