DS (3 1/2 weeks) gets horrible hiccups at least once a day - they clearly hurt and he sobs his heart out... is there any way to help soothe them? (Thinking making him jump or a glass of cold water is out Wink)

Aw blesss...my kids used to have hiccups in utero and they seemed to find it strangely calming to have hiccups as babies, perhaps it reminded them of being in the womb...

Anyhow, back to your LO - all I can suggest is that you have him lying down flat on his back - I find hiccups extrememely painful and it's the only way I can cope with them (very embarrassing if you are out Wink) - might work for him?

are you bf? giving another feed can stop them

we find giving DS milk helps them..or a dummy..i think it's cos he then focuses on the sucking and they go awy.

Thankyou - The laying down helped a bit today.
