Please help if you can... I have been forced out of lurkdom in the knowledge that there are lots of you out there with great advice. My ds accidentally managed to drop chewing gum in my dd's hair (she apparently wouldn't let him remove it);it's quite close to the scalp and has now formed a matted lump! Thanks in hope.

Try putting ice on it to see if it will go hard and then try and break it off ??

LadySherlockofLGJ · 15/03/2006 09:29

Blimey FuzzyWuzzy I didn't know that.

I think hairspray works by freezing the gum. Leave it to go hard and it should pull out.

Stain remover stuff from Tesco (etc) called De-Solve-It claims to get gum, glue, tar, paint etc off clothes, hair and skin. I've only tried it on tar on trousers but it did work, so may be worth a bash.
Smells (randomly) of oranges.

Thanks so much fuzzywuzzy..would never have thought of that one.I'll try it tonight.:)

second peanut butter - just smear it over the gum and work it out of the hair!! Really works.

WD40 is supposed to be good at removing chewing gum but I don't know if it is a good thing to put on your hair!!!
