What do you do with stuff you find?

I was picking up the kids from school this afternoon when a man walking towards me stooped down and picked something up. As I approached him he waved something in front of me, saying 'It's gold, its real gold". He handed me a very heavy, thick mans wedding ring that he had just found on the pavement - clearly hallmarked. I told him I would give it to the pharmacy opposite, in case someone came looking for it. He snatched it back and said that he had found it, he was lucky and it was just tough luck that someone else had lost it. I said that it was gold and valuable and of sentimental value to someone else. He just laughed and said that he was lucky to have found it, it was his luck .....He walked off, trying it on his stubby little fingers.

I wish I had been more assertive and just walked over to the pharmacy with it. Dh thinks I had a lucky escape in that the little sod didnt thump me when I argued with him.

Would you have kept it if you were him?

not someones wedding ring......its obviously sentimental and BOY is he gonna be in trouble when his wife finds out!!!...unless they have just split up and he threw it!!!!

no, i wouldn't have kept it. I found a lovely engagement ring once and handed it in to the police.
got a call about a month later to say it hadn't been claimed and it was mine if i wanted it!
